very true, I worked in a hockshop that helped discover a scam going on through a major electronics retailer in my country. We'd seen fake Beats, Marley, Monster, Skullcandy, even JBL but people would buy them at those shitty mall kiosks where you buy phone accessories. Couldn't believe a major store was flogging them off.

I was approached by a pair of "speakermen" about a year ago. I wasn't aware of the scam, but I still turned them down because I didn't need any speakers. Knowing what I do now, I'm very glad I didn't waste my time with them. (It's good to remember they don't exclusively use white vans; the scamming pair I encountered used a red pickup.)

at least it appears the dynalab speakers had real crossovers. You could see when they pulled the drivers out. Most would just throw a capacitor on each speaker. They must just be using crap quality drivers to begin with, or using improper ports size/length.

@23chilled
@23chilled Жыл бұрын
@@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs 301 mk2 redline were acceptable and it was the 901 you need the eq box with and the pa 800 series bose ones. They also need room to work effectively. There is better out there. Even a cheap set of eltax were better than dynalab. If you see in the video where hifi news pulled the driver out it was a generic driver and no internal sound absorption to stop reflecting waves inside the cabinet which could be the reason they sound boomy. I'd have them for like £20 as party speakers and not care if they got ruined.

BTW, it's not 'chip board' they were made of MDF, Medium Density Fiber board, like virtually every other speaker, manufactured at the time, were made of. But I've never met anyone, that actually owned a pair of these, who was unhappy with these speakers.

Mark S. Actually, they are. They're very well built, solid, heavy, play clearly and distortion free at high volume, hard to over work and last, literally, for decades. Sales methods were shady, no doubt. But a well made product, believe it or not. I got my first pair back in 1999 from my then girlfriends cousin who fell to the sales pitch, bought them and was afraid to take them to his house because his mom would've pitched a fit. Their flat response was lacking for sure. But I had a 10 band graphic equaliser at the time that brought them right to life. I loved them. Everybody I ever met that had them loved them too. I wound up trading my stereo for a pop up camper to my neighbor because his amp died. As far as I know, he's still running them 19 years later. Great product. Crap marketing company.

How ironic that a scam being shown in a video thats a direct ripoff of a tv report without any legal permission.

Synthematix Nope. We have JBL, EAW, Community, and Meyer. The best speaker companies in the world. England is a close second, however.

What they are doing isn't illegal (at least here in the US), just sleazy as hell. They are selling a product and people buy that product. They misrepresent the value of the product, but of course, as we all know, the value of anything is what a person is willing to pay. I guess it all comes down to "buyer beware" with these douchebags
