We got our hands on some Rojas Hybrids, and decided to a bit of a short rundown and explanation on their operation, and compare them with other trucks, and review the pros and cons of the design approach.

these trucks are amazing, I ride on a pair. these trucks are great for carving and cruising as well as bombing hills. every slide and turn making me feel more confident that the trucks will do what they are supposed to. I recommend these trucks for everybody

I own a pair of these, and let me tell you guys, it's the real deal. Such stability while downhilling (because of the 0 slop it has) but super carvy when you want it to be (because of the insane rebound the pull and push of the disc). It's definitely going to help progress the sport. Freeriding and long standies are simply effortless with these...so much confidence.

Until the bushing tears at one of the 4 holes in it. Speed wobbles are almost all in your head. Board control is with your ankles and it's just becoming accustomed to your board. Bushings that fit your weight or desired carvy or restricting bushings are a plus as well. Just practice practice practice. Gain confidence and things should become easier.

I would love to see something like this designed for skate plates on roller skates. It looks like it offers great precision, setting as there's compression and expansion in the bushings, rather than only compression. The closest we have to this is a skate plate called the Arius, and it has a similar kingpin design. The downfall, is that it still uses only compression on two single butterfly bushings, one for each truck.
@pete7996

cars use similar bushings in steering shafts,drive shafts,and other precise drivin parts that need cushion. washing machines also have a similar bushing between the motor and transmission to help cushion the parts from jarring when there is a heavy load. This is interesting

it took such balls to abandon tradition in the way Jared did and work on a design for YEARS, and fight through all the skepticism and parse all the feedback. And the seeds he planted are starting to grow! I'm seeing more and more riders pick these up; 2020 boutta be L I T
@LongboardTechnology
@LongboardTechnology 4 жыл бұрын
I still think he should have sacrificed some precision and targeted more affordability over performance. Price has slowed their growth this whole time, and so much of their performance comes from the design not from the tolerance of the parts. Could have had a lot more of it come from over the counter hardware.

Can I tighten or loosen the truck up the if I think it's too leany or the opposite?
@LongboardTechnology
@LongboardTechnology 10 жыл бұрын
The only way to adjust them, is to switch out the bushings. Its definitely a draw back. On the plus side though, the rojas bushing is a lot more forgiving than a traditional bushing as far as being too lose or too tight. So you really can get away with sticking with one bushing a lot easier. But again... on the flip side of that, these bushings are much more affected by heat, so you'll probably need a different bushing in the summer, than in the fall.

Well cody womack, a rider from braden boards, has the official longest stand-up slide on them at 180ft as well as he has had them at speeds excess of 50mph, I'd say these are the most stable trucks on the market.
@LongboardTechnology
@LongboardTechnology 10 жыл бұрын
Meh. I'm not impressed by tricks. Or, well... I am. But for the rider, not the trucks. I'm hearing a lot that these are stable, but even assuming they are the #1 most stable truck, The advantage they would have over any number of performance trucks already available, would probably be negligible. Buy trucks for what you're doing, not because somebody else did something with them.

I've hit almost 100km/h in Peyragudes with these trucks and I can surely say that these things are STABLE as fuck! Only downside, there should be more bushing options, because they are either really loose (with the 90a HR bushings) or really tight (with the 93a HR bushings)

yeah, because the rotational axis is revolving around the "kingpin" and not perpendicular to the kingpin, like in the standard design, the trucks appear to be backward but will turn the same way.

why rojas hanger has so much rake wtf? its about 12mm, right? i liked this torsional bushing concept as an engineer, but i wouldnt like the feel when turning. it must behave like a TKP.
@LongboardTechnology
@LongboardTechnology 5 жыл бұрын
Its TKP-ish for sure, but there's more to a TKP than just rake. The closest thing as far as resistance progression you'll get is like a Ronin truck, in that regard its nothing like a TKP at all. I might be experimenting trying to make a rakeless rojas hanger. I'll be a fun test.
@cancelik
@cancelik 5 жыл бұрын
@@LongboardTechnology I've contacted owner and designer of Rojas, Jared Braden, to produce a rakeless hanger and he said ''it will be released very soon!''.
@LongboardTechnology
@LongboardTechnology 5 жыл бұрын
@@cancelik That's interesting. I made a rakeless Rojas in CAD and, well it doesn't quite adapt to it as nicely as as RKPs, and you have to end up making compromises to accommodate. I wasn't sure Rojas would ever be happy enough with a rakeless design to release it.
@cancelik
@cancelik 5 жыл бұрын
@@LongboardTechnology ''you have to end up making compromises to accommodate.''... I don't get what you mean man. beside that, I think, rakeless rojas will be the most RKPish-feeling truck that ever released in the longboard history.
@LongboardTechnology
@LongboardTechnology 5 жыл бұрын
@@cancelik Ok, here's what I mean. If you make it rakeless, but only do that by moving the axle closer to the pin, then you end up wit very little clearance, and the hanger's really close to the ground. There's a way to reduce that, but it ends up making the board taller and also makes the wheel base shorter on the trucks. Its 100% doable, but Braden has really high standards in what he makes.

Just sayin its hard to pull 50mph on something like a cast randal. Even most presicion trucks has a little slop in them. Theses trucks, physically, have every advantage so far because with a single bushing and a bearing setup they are a lot less sloppy. The only trucks that i can think of being more stable is OP's because of the twin pivot points over the single point.

Is all right, they keep it interesting with the contents, sometimes if you worry to much about the video quality you end up not doing the video at all.

Longboard Technology waa you dont want a fast return to center when going downhill.these are trucks made for carving not going fast straight
@LongboardTechnology
@LongboardTechnology 10 жыл бұрын
These trucks are made for a lot of things. They go fast extremely well. I misspoke a little bit. They aren't super reboundy, and they don't return to center super fast. I meant that they have a strong center, that really zeros in, partially because of the bushing, but mostly because of there being absolutely zero slop. Google 82639556 to see their Vimeo video.
