It's funny to see how so many are saying that it's only about $$$ on this one, when there were numerous teams that literally had more to shell out for this guy but he still chose the Dodgers over all of those teams. It's also funny to see that "argument" when he's on what is essentially a minor league deal for the next 6 years. Something that every team could do just as easily. I guess it's easier to blame the team(s) actually putting their $$$ where their mouths are, instead of their cheap a** teams. But whatever. Keep being upset about this if that pertains to you. Also, other teams HAVE made an effort. Sasaki was seriously targeted by at least 10 teams. Yamamoto had more than one huge contract offer. Same with Ohtani. Players are actual human beings who make their own decisions. It isn't a video game where there's an option to make them sign with you.

Dodgers have a huge TV contract for the next 15 years, they can afford to pay any sort of luxury tax. Not to mention they have so much revenue coming from Japanese sponsors now they can afford anything. After that contract is up, that’s a different story, but that will be in 2030.

Absolutely thankful to Lux for his service to the team, especially getting the ring in the 2024 season, but he was the weakest link in the team (nothing critical, nothing major, but his batting numbers pale against the rest of the squad). Honestly wish him the best in Cincinnati and hope we find an all-star caliber 2B (Dodgers are probably looking at Munetaka, but I get the feeling he's not going to the best fit because he's only a corner infielder.)

I think the bigger problems are the owners and teams that don't spend. Example my Orioles. Two different owners same trade deadlines and off seasons. Some teams actually want to win. The others just want to hoard the money they make and when they win it's in spite of the moves they've made or their grand vision they sell to everyone. Been a Dodger fan for more than 50 years, so it’s been a real pleasure watching the team progress since the Guggenheim group took over the organization and those McCourt years get further and further behind in our rear view mirror. And for the fans whining about how the Dodgers are buying World Series championships, the truth is that many teams had the same opportunities, they’ve chosen to not participate for many of the past seasons, and now their lack of investment is coming back to bite them. Dodgers are gonna be tough to beat for several years to come.
