ROKKENHORSE ~ "Wild Thing" (LIVE! 1990)

We take The Troggs, Jimi Hendrix & Sam Kinneson, throw 'em on the back of a bucking rocking horse and shake it up "Rokkenhorse-style!" ;-) Band intro's begin the mayhem...

Posted this one on my FB-video last December (over 800 views, not too shabby) & not You-Tube, I forgot...however, old band members & a couple of old fans (yeah we had some!) requested a copy from You-Tube so here it is...since "some" band members are NOT FB-friends (thats the way it goes sometimes), I still like to share what we did, as "there was a time"...this one has the last 80's lineup intros too, lol.
If I may (copied from my FB-video description) I was a big Sam Kinison fan & he would of been 65 years old TODAY (Dec. 8th, 1953)...In fact, when my band Rokkenhorse started doing the Troggs classic "Wild Thing" at shows, we eventually went via Sam Kinison lol, & the fact that it was easy to learn was a big plus! We had our own style but I leaned more towards the Jimi Hendrix version, even doin' the "finger mouth-pop" (in this particular performance, watch my first time wearin' some cool black leather gloves...well when finger mouth-pop time came up, instead of a nice power "pop!"~ I got a poof...and we all got a good laugh about it, lol...After this show I cut the right pointy-finger off the glove.) As we progressed, the last verse would become a total Sam Kinison tribute, since he had just had a big hit with it on MTV....
I got to meet Sam twice, the first time at a party in Atlanta after a David Lee Roth Omni concert & then another time at his own comedy performance at TPAC in Nashville...brought him a Sheriff's Dept. hat.
Sam was killed a couple years later in a head on collision with a drunk driver about 2 hours south from where I live now in Vegas, on April 8th, 1992...but I want to remember how he lived & not how he died.
Anyway, in honor of Sam's 65th Anniversary, here's us trying to do our best "Wild Thing"...with "band intro's" coming out of our rehearsal room at Cummins Station underground Nashville...I think my inner Jim Morrison was being channeled on the intro. LOL ;-) Just don't say nothin' Diamond, nuthin'...

There were 5 different line-ups, but the one consistant member of all 5 was lead singer “Diamond” Tim T.S. Pleshaw. Founded in 1986 ,the original name was Shakles ‘N Spurs & hit local radio saturation ( in club playing markets ) with,”She Rode A Harley” ( written & produced by Tom Oates & Pleshaw ).

In late 1988, probably the most popular lineup was ( Rokkenhorse Mach III ) “Diamond”, David “Hi-Tone” Beazley, Darrell “Klin Klan” Klein, James “Good God” Brown & Lee “Tumbleweed” Armstrong, they would crank out eventual Rokkenhorse standards like, “Screwed Blue & Tattooed”, “Crakker Jacks” & popular radio airplay by KDF & The Nashville Tapes, “Bleeding For Some Affection” & the “snappy”- “Freedom ( On The Flipside )”. This line-up would break apart due to misguided bandmates...yet the 'Horse continued on through the early 90's, then in 2009 this line-up got back together thanks to Diamond, however misunderstandings and inner-turmoil would lead to the final coffin nail after a successful Rock festival gig...let me be clear, a fantastic resurrection that would be left to rot with the typical rock-n-roll folklore of band break-ups. How do you reason with this? You don't & move on...not twice by the same poison.
