I'm a newcomer to flatscreen tv, and I am *just now* learning this Roku streamer. I've barely scratched the surface, but I'm not a heavy user - almost all of my watching is on YT, Netflix, and BritBox. As for the remote, it's okay, but I don't like the Sound OFF button where it's at - I keep pressing it by accident. I guess I'll just learn to hold the thing differently. ​@medicalbeverage Mine is also a DVD/TV combo. It is not a smart tv. The Roku stick turns it into one, though. There's one thing I've noticed after a year of using a Roku stick. The batteries drain like crazy. I have to put new batteries in it every few months. That tv is not used as much, but it still drains the batteries.

Remote it came with sucked and died after only 2 months third year But downloaded Roku app to my Android and success !

I didn't watch the entire video so I apologize if you addressed the question I'm posing here. I'd just like to know if this ROKU device needs to necessarily be connected to a TV. I ask bc I don't watch TV much really. However I do watch a little KZbin on my PC and was wondering if that would suffice. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

I tried to watch Telemundo channel and I couldn't, I have to sign in to Hulu account and til now , I don't have access. I live in rural area and is difficult to watch local channels, I thought Roku was the solution. 😏🥴🤦‍♀️

I've owned mine for less than 6 months, the remote has major issues, it will not backup at all. Something as simple as a remote shouldn't malfunction. I've owned Roku for years and never had these issues. The unit is also having problems remembering which episode I was watching on every show, which means I have to remember where I was when I turn it back on. Disappointed Los Angeles

Mine has a problem with draining the batteries. Every few months I have to change them. That's abnormal. My other tv remote has had the same batteries for at least a year.

💥Warning: Unless you have a Roku TV, you will not only NOT get local channels using this device, but you will also NOT be able to adjust your picture settings' color, contrast, size, etc😤 Roku also states on their website should you have problems with the device, "We do not service the Roku 4K express." Granted the 4K picture is great, but you'd better keep the old remote handy🙄

Mine is working good. I put it on a Emerson tv from 2013. It works just like my Roku tv. I was surprised by how something so small works so good.
