Federer is looking very sharp, I really like the way he takes power off some of his shots to go for accuracy. He also disguises his shots very well, very hard to read what type of shot he will play next. I'm a Rafa fan but Roger is a big threat to any clay court specialist, if he has a question mark it might be stamina for a five setter.

@@SLProductions2010 If it was a break celebration, then why would they stop playing and hug each other? I honestly don't know. Schwartzman didn't necessarily win the set. For all you know they weren't even playing a set. They could have been playing three super-tiebreaks which some pros do instead of sets. They could have been playing a set and might have had to play the last game due to time constraints since they were practicing on centre court. And that may have been the first game Schwartzman won so he raised his hands as if to say "Finally!". It could have been anything.

I wish Federer played like this in actual matches, he would be so difficult to beat. Even though his backhand suffers against Rafa, he rarely hits that shot freely down the line as he does here. It is difficult to do but he did that in 2006 consistently. If he would have played the 2017 style throughout his career, he would have had many more victories against Rafa. The moment he is involved in a close point, he usually becomes tentative and tries to play safe or he rushes to the net. If he could just play a point at its merit (easier said than done), no one can beat him. For Nadal and Djokovic, pressure makes them play safer tennis, measured tennis. For Federer, it should be the opposite where he could be more natural. That's why 2006 and 2017 are his best years because he removed the pressure element from his game.
@IzakD8
@IzakD8 7 ай бұрын
2017 is not his best year lol. He just didn't have to play Djokovic that year. Federer from 2003-2010 is better than 2017 Federer.
@pierdomenicosommati443
@pierdomenicosommati443 6 ай бұрын
@@IzakD8it's better for Djokovic's ego, and for his H2H, if he didn't face Roger that year. With this, I'm not saying that 2017 was the strongest season for Federer... of course 2003/2007, 2009, and perhaps also 2011 and 2012 Federer's "versions", were more dangerous... But in 2017 Nadal was out of his prime too, and the only reason why Roger never played Djokovic in 2017 is the fact that the Serbian was out of prime as well and losing to other players... and the average level of other high ranking players had already started to drop (that's why Djokovic can still dominate today, despite being a pale shadow of what he used to be). This said, Federer's play in 2017, and in several parts of 2018 and 2019 seasons, was absolutely spectacular, sometimes totally unreal... no question about this, no matter if this was not the most dangerous Federer ever.
@IzakD8
@IzakD8 6 ай бұрын
@@pierdomenicosommati443 Dude Djokovic was injured in 2017. He is in no way a pale shadow of what he used to be. His shotmaking is better than ever, along with his volleys and serve. The only thing that has declined is his footspeed.
@pierdomenicosommati443
@pierdomenicosommati443 6 ай бұрын
@@IzakD8 Oh yeah, Federer himself apparently looked not like a pale shadow of the 25 y/o himself, with that hell of a backhand and bssically playing brilliantly. He would get destroyed like 63 62 by the young himself though, a monster who used to cover the whole court with 5 steps, basically impossible to unbalance, hitting tons of unreturnable forehands all the time. Exactly the same thing would happen to the old Djoko vs the 25 y/o himself, who was much more explosive, and a good 30% faster, allowing him to push great opponents on defense much more often. Please give up with this fairy tale of old 36 y/o sportsmen being stronger than what they used to be 11 year before. That's nonsense. We already saw all this with the old, barely moving Serena almost hitting the Grand Slam without having to run. Face the sad reality, the level just dropped. A lot. It happened in WTA before, and everyone was making fun of that. Then it happened in ATP too.

A game? LOL. Play an entire set and maybe, MAYBE a 5.0 player gets a point when he frames a forehand into the stands (he does that once a set even in easy wins).

Regina Delgado Almonte just try to catch the ball with the top part of your racket and then try to create a cushion moving it back in a semi loop. Then practice 1,000. Times.

His control over the ball is unnatural. Soooo much respect for players that can go toe to toe with him. I mean, Deago is a wonderful player but can't do anything here XD. Also lovely to see the embrace at the end :)

Federer's positioning, ball control, speed, accuracy are all just incredible. He doesn't give you the slightest room for not making the best shot in your life every shot if you want a chance of winning a point.

@pierdomenicosommati443 6 ай бұрын
@@tylerbee9866no he didn't, like not at all. He just won the last point in the moment they had to leave the court, perhaps it coincided with the moment he won the only game in the hour, that's why he's autoironically celebrating. Roger was hitting like an alien, totally outplaying him, like at least 15 clean baseline winners in just a set, while basically half volleying all the time forehand and backhand, with his feet on the baseline or even inside it... How do you think Dieguito could've saved himself from being totally destroyed, given what we're seeing here? By lobbing Roger like there's no tomorrow in all the other points? By putting down 20 service aces? By dropshotting Roger on second serve? LOL
