Only 3.4k views ? WTF ??? The most impressive demo I've seen in years !
@Cigarsnguitars5 жыл бұрын
I’ve had one for years. If you don’t have it, get it. It is amazing. I used it in bands and at church. I have my "User" patches connected to a Behringer FCB1010 Midi Controller to change patches on the fly. It gives you 10 banks of 10 patches so you have a chance to set up 100 patches to retrieve instantly by pressing a couple of foot switches.

What can you do with a MIDI controller?
@Cigarsnguitars4 жыл бұрын
John Mills It’s a pedal board that allows you to change patches. When you play live and need multiple patches you can assign a patch to a pedal, and when you need that patch you can call it up on the fly without having to scroll up/down through all of the patches.

How is the tracking? Is there a delay between when you pick the string and then hear the sound?
@Cigarsnguitars4 жыл бұрын
@@evhfan5150 I apologize for the delay in responding to your question, which is the only delay there is. I have had no latency issues with it at all. I bought a Godin Freeway guitar specifically to setup and use with the GR-55. The guitar plays incredible just as a regular electric guitar but it houses the electronics, ghost saddles and 13 pin connector, all built in to the construction of the guitar. I have the GK3 pickup (what you see mounted on the guitar in the demo) and have built it into a ‘universal’ mount for Tune-o-matic style bridges. I have it mounted on my 1980 BCRico Mockingbird now but can move it to my Agile LP.

@Samí Warrior Which "midi controller" are you referring to? There are several on the market.

Roland always has the best products and this review with this guitarist was a great choice! Excellent sounds, excellent player. I loved that nylon strings with piano sound! I will buy one of these guitar synths when I have the cash! Long live Roland, I've been buying your products for 30 years and will continue to do so!

The VG-99 and GR-55 are the best that Roland could create, both in terms of design, a rich set of functionality and controllers, and most importantly, excellent fat sound! I consider the GM-800 to be a generally unsuccessful option, both in terms of design and in everything else. It was possible to upgrade the GR-55 by removing the 13-PIN cable and adding sample loading capabilities and that would be very cool!

I use a Godin as well. A lot of times what I thought was a latency problem turned out to be the character of the instrument I selected. Some seem to take a little longer to develop than others. We are used to guitars responding instantly to our touch. Pads, organs etc are not immediate.

Nice! Would be nice to know what amp he was playing through. A synth needs a good full range amp (NOT a guitar amp) to really sound as full, clean and deep as the synth sounds were here.

Great Demo. I totally love my GR-55. I have mine sending the guitar signal to a Line 6 Spider IV 30w 1x12 combo & the GR-55 L&R Jacks adapted into the MP3 player input of the Line 6 which gives me absolutely fantastic sound in what must be the smallest & most efficient/powerful rig budget-conscious money can buy. GR-55 + Combo = 2 keyboards, 2 guitar tones with almost no footprint on stage. The GR-55 comes thru the combo via MP3 jack CRYSTAL clean & Booming strong & mixes great

Bought this 5 ? Years ago and never really used it (there is also a connection issue on the gr-55 midi in port...). Because it’s really too heavy ! Now I use mainly midi guitar that tracks even better than gk3. Also mounted a gk3 for bass. Great techno (expensive) but too heavy.... Just my 2 euros...

WOW! Great demo. My only question is this. I've wanted to get an all in one effect unit because I hate pedal chains(I only use a boosted crybaby now) and haven't been able to find one that doesn't have that modeling sound. I'm running two red stripe bandits using the on board gain and clean channels which I think sounds as good as any tube amp....can it shed that digital horrible modeling sound and give good hi gain bite?

Hello .. I have a question or rather a request for possible help. When I write notes in TAB via MIDI (I have a Godin guitar with a 13-pin input, I connect it to the Roland GR 55 and then connect it to the computer with a midi-usb cable) using a guitar, the program records the sound "c" on the 2nd string, threshold 1. I would like so that he would write the note in a different position on the fingerboard, eg string 4, fret 10. But it does not happen. So it's not good, because the piece is recorded in the wrong position on the fingerboard. Do you know something about it? Maybe there are some solutions .. Using the guitar, I write notes in TAB much faster and more conveniently. I have been looking for a solution for several months. I am asking for a possible answer. I would be very grateful for any hint. Best wishes. MiroslaV

whats the difference to a multieffects pedal, like Boss GT 100 ?
@charleschurch83795 жыл бұрын
One thing.... I've had boxes like this in the past. One Boss, one Genetix 3, others I think. Every single one breaks down and everything stops working. I even tried soldering new buttons in, which failed. You spend quite a bit on these, and then throw them away. Is this one any different? Roland does have a really good name, so maybe so.
