Co-creator of Europa, here. Interesting tidbit - half the 8051 binary code was the voice allocation and arpeggiator. The rest is what I wrote. Also, the enabling/disabling of every waveform rather than a single one was my idea. ;-) I also wrote the manual.

Man, I've yet to see any demo videos of the J6 being rocked properly. Yes it makes great pads and strings, and the unison is off the hook... But this thing has Techno in its DNA. It literally has the snappiest envelopes I've ever heard. With the ability to stack the oscillators and the FM, it shines when doing hard Techno and EBM style arpeggios. It has a dark, very aggressive sound best suited in the lower mid-range. Obviously the bandpass filter adds a lot. I actually prefer it to the J8. It has a much darker, weirder, more sci-fi edge to it. That's the only way I know to describe it.

Non-stock Master Tune knob... Oh God, my JP-6 had a non-stock knob too. I spent YEARS looking for replacement original. Finally found it.

Since we are talking about combinations of waves and curves, unless you're playing a preset ROMpler the combinations are endless

Yes, we purchased the actual kit from someone who removed it from his JP6.

@@Manmademadman I have a JP-6 and a JP-4, but when I die, I want to be burried with the JP-4. Such a beautiful machine... Thick, luch, and also thin and sweet... For me, personally, it's 10x more precious than my JP-6. When I would be forced to sell one, I would defenitly part with the JP-6.

Probably because you haven't spent enough time with either? Or too much time with the 4? I dunno, seems very apples to oranges comparison. 6 is just too different from the 4.

jp4 sounds much nicer, its warm, round and liquidy but more limited , jp6 is cold thin and harsh at times but these traits are actually what makes it unique, it makes some crazy otherworldly sounds and awesome icy pads it really comes to life with effects processing but its rubbish for the more traditional roland poly synth stuff imo
