Yes. This is what I had in mind when it was released. That you have 2 independent polyphonic voices + individual FX that can be sequenced - 64 steps + modulated - at the same time. Everybody keeps babbling about it not sounding 'as the original' are besides the point. What you're doing here is - imho - the point of this synth. Very nice.

Your video is pushing me so close to picking one of these up. I swore off Roland Boutiques but now IDK. I might just get this over the Dreadbox Nymphes. Yeah I agree who cares if it doesn't sound like the original. One of the reasons I like it.
@wickeddubz Жыл бұрын
Among all boutiques this one is the most capable, and you get 2 synths in one case. For me it was no-brainer. Yes, it has it’s own quirks, but still worth it’s money and occupies tiny space.

Nice sequencing ! JX-08 is my preferred Boutique synth. And the "double synth" capability of the new JX-08 and JD-08 is really something that adds a lot of value to the Boutique concept.

@@ErichNolanBertussi The Boutique or the real machine ? The Boutique JX-08 and the JD-08 are two new models released last december. They benefit new common features like the dual layer (2 x the synths with 2 independent polyphonic sequencers). The JX-8P, the real machine, was sold between 1985 and 1989. It was the last analog poly synth from Roland (but that wanted to sound a bit like a digital one). The boutique JX-08 has a front panel that mimics the PG-800 additional module (with sliders, knobs to program the synths), the original JX-8P was like a DX7 : a little screen and lots of buttons, not very pleasant to program without the PG-800.

@@AlbaEcstasy Most of the Roland analogs can mimic each other in many ways - but they all have their own personalities definitely. The JX-08 is no exception to this. I never met a Roland analog (or virtual analog) I didn't like (I have 7 of them - three older ones and four of the newer ones). For me the JX-08 would be more like the JX-10 I never had with almost double the polyphony - not really a replacement for the JX-8P (which I do have). I really think Roland should have just marketed this as a new generation JX since the engine does have some sonic differences from the original JX models - and just called it the JX-20. But whatever the case - I like it anyway. I'll probably get one of these at some point.

I've got the SE-02 and the SH-01a and personally i would opt for the SE-02 first.It's also well worth checking out the Roland S1 - the review on Andertons Music said that he had worked for Roland for 10 years and it was his favourite product so ordered one from Scan Uk £148.The TR8-s is a fantastic base to work from with the mix of sliders and mute buttons - add in a Boss RC500 2 track looper for good measure ! Synthesisers is all part of my get poor quick scheme and it's working well.

Such a pity the Roland sequencers dont allow realtime key transposition a la Arturia Keystep (or indeed vintage synths like the SC Pro One.) I believe the SH4d also omits this. A very strange omission, IMHO.
