The #RolandJX08 is playing two sequences (part A&B), Roland JU-06A one sequence line and the JP-08 is bringing the lead to the table!
All recorded via USB AUDIO.
Only using Arturia Intensity as reverb for the JP-08 and Waves H-Delay as stereo delay for JU-06A. The JX-08 runs on its own internal effects.

My conclusions after one week of tweaking the Roland JX-08:
Underestimated because of their size - and for a good reason - anyone who has been open minded enough to the Boutique concept (not me at that time!), soon after they put their hands on such a replica, discover that Roland Boutique sounds huge!
I had my doubts and I even have laughed when the first Boutiques were released.
I tried all the synths formats for the last 20+ years, and let me tell you that small synths does not have a place in my operating theatre! All the time I tend to ignore them, and they're just decorating my studio.
Now I own most of the Boutiques and I'm looking to grow my collection (especially with the "collectible" ones!)!
The extended polyphony makes the difference!
Not saying about the two sequencer lines for both parts, the arpeggiator, 3 types of filter, plenty of nice effects and other extras!
Small? Yes! Capable? Very yes!

I have the JU-06A and it sounds really good. I had the Juno6 ages ago and I can´t remember it sounded as good. Recently bought the JX-08 also. Underrated small machines! They are modelled after their grandparents but should not be seen as imitations... that´s my opinion.

Captures the spirit of Tangerine Dream and boutiques well love them or hate them it's their answer to Behringer's push. Wish Roland would bring out a boutique jup8 with 8notes.

I now have six Roland devices from the Boutique series and I am more than enthusiastic about all of them. Very good quality, very good sound and great connectivity. The workflow could be better. Japanese engineers don't seem to realize that SHIFT & EDIT orgies and hidden menus aren't for everyone. But other than that, you really can't complain. One can hope for the future that Roland will release a revised boutique version of the Jupiter 8 and also develop a JP-8000 boutique version.

Good stuff man. I had the JU-06 and JP-08 originally but sold them. I now have the JU-06A again. Good sounding synth and still use it despite having the System 8 which is nice too.

@@_EightySix starting with the increased polyphony, voice layering, more sound design options and continuing with all the features that allows you to be more productive. But yes, the choice must be always personal! And also you cand see that I also have the JU-06a and the first JU-06.

@@AlbaEcstasy Wow, I didn't know the JX-08 had 20 note poly because I didn't bother to read about it, I never cared for the 8P because prefer the sound of the 3P but that's awesome that it has that polyphony, it's too bad the JU-06A didn't have that same capability. I have 7 of the Boutiques and that JU-06A sounds amazing, I'll get one eventually!

Lovely! If Larry Fast had jammed with Pete Baumann back in the day, this might have been their starting point. I also would like to ask how you set up your recording; did you simply aggregate the drivers in MacOS? Did you ignore the latency settings on each driver and/or compensate in your DAW? Did you encounter much noise on the audio from ground loops and (if so) use EQ or Brusfri on the noise? Keep on with the Berlin School mastery :)

Thanks! Yes, aggregated all usb audio with my audio interface. No latency, no ground noise. The first Boutiques had that issue but after the latest update, all good!

On the JU-06a the last step of the sequencer can be changed to alter the length. Can the 2 sequences on the JX08 be given different last steps?

The JX-08 sounds better than the JU-06 to me, and I've owned the 06. No idea why people bash it so much. No idea why people are so nuts about the 06...people just parrot each other.

Too bad Roland decided to cripple the JU-06a and JP-08 with only 4 voice polyphony. But the way you use it, that is not that big of an issue. The JX-08 has more voices polyphony, AFAIK, but the demo's I've heard so far didn't really do it for me. But again, in this mix, it works! Great job!

They didnt 'decide' to cripple those synths with 4 voices. It is all that they could muster with the CPU power available driving the ACB component modelling style of architecture when they were designed. These synths were built to a price point and did a great job.

@@Fractalite yeah that’s what Roland claimed but really how much would a slightly more powerful CPU have cost? They did 128 voices, 4 tracks with 16 drum samples on one track, plus master reverb, delay, plus individual track FX for about the same price in the MC101.

@@Fractalite lol of course they crippled them. They could've not been so greedy and used a more powerful CPU and PSU instead of batteries. Instead we have fantastic sounding boutiques that look awesome but can't be used like the originals. Considering how the market is crying out for full size reissues of these things, the fact they couldn't get it right even in digital form is a joke. At least the newer ones have more polyphony.

@@geofff6671 The MC101 was conceived 3 years after the original boutiques and has a Zencore Engine that allows for higher polyphony. Zencore has it's drawbacks as well as the emulation of analog isn't quite as good as the ACB technology.

I think that the JX-08 has a little more sound design possibilities. But I would not compare these two, just for the sake of having both!

It is the Roland K-25m, just with wooden side panels. Don't think they're official but there's a lot of folks making them. I've got the JX-08 so don't think it would suit mine but can see the appeal for the JU-06 or similar.

With all the complaints about the boutique line going around you prove that if you are a true musician you can make music on any synth available I don't see any good synth music out on u tube like yours from the hundreds and thousands of synth owners out there they do more complaining than actually making music millions of synth s sold every year and not much going on with the actual music unlike guitar most great musicians can do more with less if you rely solely on gear your a fish out of water
