You don't have to change those values for the AENV. When you change the mode to SUSTAIN, on the next page of that menu, you can set the Release value to 0. Those 2 settings gets the same behavior.

For anyone struggling with the right timing for the recording part of this method: What really helped me was changing "next clip" in the clip edit menu from "stay" to "stop" and then just pressing the sample and the play button at the same time. That way you dont have to worry about overlapping recordings. If you don't want your sample to start from the beginning of the pattern, it is still going to be difficult, but otherwise it works great :) Thanks Unit E for this helpful advice!

Using the count-in will relieve you of having to hit play and triggering the sample at the same time. Great tip on using the stop function for the next clip parameter.

@@UnitE808 With quantize on it's actually super easy to hit both buttons at the same time in my opinion, but sure maybe with a count in it could be even easier for some to do that. Anyways this tutorial is super helpful so thx a lot! :)

In the utility menu of the 8S, under the midi category, turn off RxProgCh.

Tnx for a great video. Is it possible to time stretch a loaded sample. Will your vocal sample follow the tempo if you change the tempo?

@@jesperna1 you’re welcome! Unfortunately, the drum tracks do not time-stretch, so they will not adjust the speed of a sample played when the tempo is adjusted.

I'm currently having memory limit issues with looper tracks, I might create a drum track and dump a few of the looper tracks there (just 4 bar loops)

They're hard programmed to level.

If anyone does know about updates, they are usually required to sign an NDA. I can tell you that the 707 is still supported by Roland.

It's absolutely possible and what I do often. Remember though.... drum tracks do not time-stretch samples, so you have to record at tempo.

@@Drumsdude123 use shift+record for the sample recorder. After recording the sample, select a drum track then tap a pad. Hit enter to load the recording to the pad.

You can edit step length by pressing shift and the step.

@@UnitE808 I have the same problem. There is a knob to set the end to "99" or "TIE". But both don't play the sample longer. It would be so nice when there is a way to set the length of a step in the step sequencer

@@BassWorkENTRTNMT drum tracks work differently than tone tracks. Extending a trigger on a step doesn’t lengthen the sample played. It’s a trigger. Tone tracks play notes with sustain naturally occurring when holding the note. That doesn’t happen when you hold a drum trigger.

@@tricks-and-tips maybe I can cheese it with a silent sample on one pad in the same mute group. I like to mess with drum chops creating a staccato type effect. The SP series gate function would be perfect

@@vaktmester.snaddermann That will work, but the 'problem' here is making the longer samples sound long. Not to make them stop. That is tricky. And I wished it was as easy as making a note longer.
