thx dave, this saved me time. btw, folks...as you may or may not know, the bell on the td-17's CY-13 ride isn't loud. quick fix: if ya got an old pd-7 pad laying around...attach it to the td-17 drum rack near the ride, connect the pd-7's cable to the aux connection on the module and then into a closely attached pd-7's connection (place the pad just over and next to the CY-13's bell). go to "pad settings" and choose "mainly bell ride", adjust the parameters and viola! It's a lower pitched bell than the CY-13's bell, but it is subject to much greater sensitivity and you won't have to beat the tar out of it to hear it. It's a workaround and easier than the "bell fix" method of peeling off the CY-13's rubber skin, etc. as seen on youtube. now you can have two for the price of an old pad.

I found alot of reviews that said some of the snare stuff sounded "machine gunny". I didnt find that at all. So what I do to keep interest is make myself sit down and play atleast long enough to go thru all 50 presets, and then play the "studio" pattern (modified) until I leave for work in the afternoons. Just got my TD-17KVX yesterday and loved everything about it, but wanted to calibrate the hi-hat. The instructions were not clear on this; they referred to "the VH-10's offset adjustment screw". David, my manual has a somewhat cryptic second step in this process, which states: "Make adjustments so that the cosmetic part in the lower middle of the hi-hat is 3mm away from the center tip of the sensor, and then tighten the clutch screw. The spacing can be adjusted to the distance that you find comfortable for playing, but if it is too narrow or too wide, malfunctions may occur, and you might not be able to play as expected." I interpreted this as pressing the hi-hat pedal fully down, raising the cymbal slightly, and then tightening the clutch screw. But seems to throw off the calibration that was described in the first step, and makes the hi-hat too quiet when you press the pedal down. Also (having disregarded their second step), I'm getting inconsistent sounds when I press the hi-hat pedal. Most of the time it sounds like a "cht," as it should...but occasionally it sounds more like a crash cymbal, as if it was an "open" hit. Any idea what they're referring to, and how to correct the inconsistent sound issue? Thanks very much in advance.
@davidmearsuk5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim. Thanks for watching and for your question. I believe your interpretation is correct. Regarding the inconsistent sample triggering, I would start by double-checking your cable connections and jack sockets. It could be that something is loose and causing a mis-trigger if you're firmly closing the hi-hat. Also, as always, double-check that the correct leads are plugged into the correct, corresponding sockets. Hope this helps.
@jmd121275 жыл бұрын
@@davidmearsuk Hi David, thanks very much for your reply. I believe the issue I described is related to how quickly my foot releases the pedal. If I release it too fast, or if I allow it to bounce up slightly after pressing it, that results in the "crash" sound. As someone who's new to drums, I can't say whether that behavior is consistent with how an actual hi-hat would behave, but I intuitively believe that it is. I also find that it's better NOT to make the 1/10" adjustment that the manual recommends, because it throws the sounds off completely.
@davidmearsuk5 жыл бұрын
@@jmd12127 Hi Jim. You're absolutely right, releasing the hi-hat shouldn't result in a crash sound. Did you double check your cables and sockets?
@jmd121275 жыл бұрын
@@davidmearsuk Yep, cables are connected properly. I think it's emulating a "hi-hat splash," as shown here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWOxoYyNZ6uNfbcm6s Maybe it's functioning correctly after all, and I just need to learn a bit of left-foot control.
