Hi Jim. I haven't covered it in this video as felt it could become confusing. So, just for you.... Press Assign > hit the rim of your hi-hat > press the button under 'SUB' in the screen > rotate the wheel to select a sample (hand clap for example) > go down to Layer Type & change to Fade 1 > Go down to Fade Point & experiment to find the level you want for the sample to trigger. The outcome will be accents on the hi-hat rim will trigger the sample simultaneously with the hi-hat sample, but not when hit lightly. Hope this helps - I'll be covering it in a future video :)

Hi Dave,great info and very practical.Thanks!.I’ve a question on whether you know if it’s possible to transfer sounds/kits from an older module(a TD-8),to the TD-17?.The manual suggests you can plug in via the midi out port?.
@davidmearsuk5 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard. Thank you for watching & for your question. Apologies, I'm unfamiliar with older Roland drum modules, but these would be my considerations: Is the TD8 or respective older module able to export samples to a TD17 comparible SD Card. I suspect that Roland don't provide this to safeguard the built in samples. Regarding the use of MIDI cables: in my experience MIDI passes basic data which can then be used to trigger sounds with software or devices. I've never tried to use MIDI to transfer files and samples. One method would be to record the individual samples into a digital recorder that saves to a TD17 compatible SD card, and then import them into the TD17 (I'd also use a PC to rename the samples if the digital recorder just used numbering for the file names). Apologies I'm unable to give a yes or no answer, but hope this helps?

How do I record my drum audio to my memory card? I keep getting SD card Media Error, thanks
@HernanRios3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Great review! I would like to ask you something that happens to me and I do not see anybody speaking about it. I have the TD17 module on a VAD 306. When I import my own sounds, for example a ride cymbal, if I hit it twice then the second hit mutes the first, creating a really weird and unnatural sensation. Typical situation when hitting the ride alternating one hard and one soft hit in a groove. The soft hit does not overlap and mix with the first, but it kind of replaces it creating a drastic decay between the hard it and the soft one. I hope my explanation was clear enough so that you could give me an opinion of how to solve this. I was able to improve the performance by crating another sublayer but it’s not ideal. Obviously, this behavior does not occur with the preset the TD17 comes with. Thank you!

Hi. Thanks for watching try experimenting with the Sample Play Type: User Sample > Menu > Play Type. Hope this helps.

The HH pedal works and sound when I press the pedal but it's not opening and closing, any idea? I'll see what happens when I reconnect it to my VAD306 but I wonder why it dows not work for imported sounds in my TD11. Thank you!
