I'm a bass player and this guys got a deep pocket for days on end. I don't care if he's playing plastic buckets, I'd jam with him any time. For you guys commenting on how the drum module sounds or the "machine gunning" anomalies, at the end of the day, its all about making music and this guy on this instrument makes some damn fine music. So get off your high horse and evaluate the video for the musicality of it. The dude can play. And his time is good. And the sounds sound great and very musical. I'm gonna buy one of these things for my studio.......to make good music. So from an American in California, Herr Schumasher, ihr spielen ist ganz ausgezeichnet. End of story.

​@@bebisibeb It's all about convenience. I'd say most people (including myself) who own these types of kits also own an acoustic kit. But in a built up area or apartment acoustic kits just aren't practical. Everyone knows that without a flagship roland/pearl mimic pro/ or vst you're not going to get close to the sound of a decent acoustic kits, but they're just so damn convenient. By the way these roland double or triple ply mesh heads also feel very good, of course not as realistic as a quality acoustic drum head but a million times better than the rubber pads.

@@Felix-po8oe Hi Felix, that's a problem of the hardware. You need to tighten the screw of your hihat pole/rod (sorry I am missing the correct word in english) :-D inside the hihat stand. If this is too lose, the hihat pad will spin. Kind regards!

If you're thinking of buying the TD-17 KV or KVX, one note of caution and something that never gets talked about in official or unofficial promo videos reviews is the fact the tom and snare holders do not stay in position, especially if you're a hard-hitting drummer or you're playing heavy song. It doesn't matter how you tighten them and there are three points where you can, if you play a Chilli Pepper or Rage Against The Machine type of hard-hitting song, you'll have to readjust at the end. If you're lucky maybe two hard-hitting tracks. Don't get me wrong, the kit sounds great and feels great but Roland has really dropped the ball here. I suspect the reason why review sites don't mention this, is because they're getting free kit. Well, I'm here to tell to beware of this design failure. I'm not sure what can be done for the tom holders/clamps/wing nut as they're are made entirely plastic and can only be tightened up so much, which is not the case for a steel clamp mechanism. You can, however, use or buy an acoustic snare drum stand, which I highly recommend.

I am currently thinking about buying the td-17 kvx. @@andreasbecker8754 Unfortunately, you can't replace the clamps, certainly not that I know of. I've had my kits for 2 years now and the clamp issue is still an annoyance but overall, there is no better electronic kit out there. Wobbly snare? That does make it difficult to work on intricate rudimentary patterns but getting a solid snare stand will sort this. Also, I highly recommend getting EZ Drummer 2, soon to be EZ Drummer 3, it's FAR SUPERIOR to the Roland drum bank of sounds.

Just bought it yesterday...amazing kit, except for two elements: Drum rack and pad stands...The left post is in the way, like exactly where i would put my hi-hat stand. i need to place it next to that post, to the left or to the right, both feel awkward. Don't forget you have to place the drum module as well, a real mess. Cymbal stands have ball joints, wich is a must, while tom pads do not !! Why god why ?! No boom arms either... the drum rack should really be about a foot wider, it would be perfect ! i guess they had to cut production cost somwhere. But still a great kit !

Hey Jessy, you are right the biggest compromise of the TD-17KVX are the little MDS-Compact rack and the KD-10 bass drum pad. I wonder how it took to tweak the kit to track his playing like that? I haven’t owned a set of electronic drums since the early 90’s, so one of you young guys fill me in. At that time, you had to fiddle with the sensitivity settings to get the things to moderately track your playing and not trigger when you sneezed or the bass player passed out. Do these things track like this out of the box?

I keep coming back to watch this video just because of how good the playing is. I just wanted to ask - is there any particular reason the smaller pad is used as the low Tom as opposed to the high Tom? Is that how it’s instructed to be set up or is it just personal preference ?

The TD-17KVX is a great value kit, but if it is "worth" it is a very subjective question :) you should probably test it out for yourself at a local dealer & if you like it come back and get it from drum-tec with the Live Sound Edition upgrade ;) Kind regards!

Hey Dennis, thank you! The audio in the videos is taken straight from the stereo output of the sound module without any further processing. Just a little compression/limiting at the end to get the level up a bit. Kind regards!

Wow, unboxing and setup in 1:30 minutes and ready to play! So, how long does it REALLY take to put together? Is a Drum Mat needed? Exactly what is it for? It seems most places I see selling the KVX do not come with the Hi-hat Stand (cost too much to ship). As a beginner drummer, what would be recommended for the KVX Hi-hat Stand? Thanks.
