The 6S is almost my favourite out of it and the 8S. Sadly I'm unable to update - my PC tells me it draws too much power and shuts down any USB port I try. Its a desktop PC with plenty of juice, other bigger flashier USB devices are fine. I disconnected everything else and still no luck. I thought there was a "power by battery always" mode, but maybe that was MC101 as I can't find it. Could it be defective? Can I load FW via SD?

The update should be loaded via SD card

Use a battery bank or phone charger and update via SD card.

mine would not update at first either - but i figured it was my usb cable so i followed the advice on the roland website and updated it by putting the update file one my SD card worked fine
