So compact and portable, you can bring the V-1HD and use it anywhere! The V-1HD makes it easy to connect and switch video cameras, smart phones, computers, tablets, Blu-ray players and other HDMI video sources with a simple push of a button or slide of the T-Fader. It supports professional compositing effects such as picture-in-picture and keying allowing for graphic insets, titling or even “green screen” ideal for news broadcast or corporate training productions.

I love mine. I use them on two laptops with two 50" monitors and Tascam ministudio. Can't wait to get the learning curve over, although for more technical things. Starting out is plug and play. The menu is simple and intuitive to use to change settings and add enhancements. This thing does everything, green, blue, black, white screen composites, all on the fly. I had a s-video Panasonic mixer back in the day, and it makes life so easy.

It’s a weird add. The V-1HD is a professional product but they treat it like a consumer one. You know, like one of those Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy commercials. On a side note, I’m surprise they included a HDCP on/off switch for DVD/Blu-Ray sources. Wonder if it can be used to make dubs of those sources. Would like to use it for making backups and archiving my DVR.

I think you're misunderstanding the HDCP ON/OFF feature. The light on top of the panel only indicates that HDCP content/hardware is connected. If you switch HDCP to OFF it simply means you WILL NOT be able to hook up copyright protected media. If you switch HDCP to ON it simply means you are able to display copyright protected media -- IF you have a monitor/display/projector that had HDCP decoding built-in. In other words, you can NOT use this as a professional "pass through" device to copy your HDCP protected content. Sorry.

As long as the tech is stable it should be a pretty good tool to be used as a component with a larger system of compatible devices. I wouldn't dare use it as a stand alone system without a streaming device, audio board and external monitors.

We have audio coming in via RCA from our mixer. Its coming into our Roland V-1HD. When audio comes out of the Roland V-1HD, does it come out of HMDI? Or when you come in with RCA, is the only audio out option RCA (and not HMDI). We really want HDMI out for audio because the our is going into our YOLOLIV YoloBox.

I'm a big fan of Roland gear but am surprised by the total lack of customer service. I tried to call but they don't accept calls. So I filed a question. Last time I did this they literally took 6 months to respond (that's not an exaggeration). I recently purchased a V-1HD and am getting heavy pixelation when in mix mode and switching between A-->B or the opposite. It doesn't seem to be an internal setting (or at least I can't find the setting). Does anybody know what might be causing this? Could I possibly have a defective unit?

Not a good idea to use long HDMI cables. You'll degrade the signal in the process. The best and most expensive way is to use SDI cables, with HDMI to SDI, and SDI to HDMI adapters at both ends. This method is expensive, however. A cheaper way would be an HDMI over Cat 5 adapter, you'll be able to get around 100' runs with it.

I am producing an event and need to have the switcher output go to a VGA input big screen projector and house audio board AND also record video/audio. Is there a pass through recorder that can output both?
@Robertwread
@Robertwread 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Janet, the V-1HD will allow you to embed audio into the HDMI signal. I recommend that you take the house audio (aux stereo channel) and input that into the "audio in" jack on the back of the V-1HD. Using the HDMI output from the V-1HD go into a recording device that has an HDMI pass thru like the Atomos Ninja 2. You can record both the audio and video to an SSD on the Ninja and then take the pass thru HDMI out and convert to Analog VGA to your projector. If you are going more than 30 feet from the recorder to the projector, I would recommend the Roland HDBaseT Converters called the HT-RX01 and HT-TX01 transmitter and receiver. You can create a point to point cat6 cable run up to 100 meters. Hope this helps and thanks for your interest.
@seanwebb605
@seanwebb605 7 жыл бұрын
To be very honest and direct, I wouldn't use this device as an audio board. Instead I would take my various sources including maybe a line level of the house system and mix it with a stand alone board then marry my sources together with whatever output device I'm using. A longer video shows the delay options available.

The V-1HD does not have built-in recording capability, but you can run the output to one of the Atomos Ninja monitor/recorders, for instance.
@Robertwread
@Robertwread 8 жыл бұрын
The V-1HD does not have recording or USB output. Some streaming services like Ustream offer cloud recording or you could get a HDMI to USB capture device and record the HDMI output to your computer or as Jason suggested an Atomos recorder.

Do you have any suggestions on HDMI cables to get for a stage setup? I see some online w built in chips to boost the signal but have no idea what's reliable. I'm also guessing 50ft is probably the longest I should go.

Project Definition I recommend an HDI to SDI converter so you can extend it for really great lengths with out loosing too much power. Black Magic has something like it.
