Hi, Robert: I'm glad I could answer some questions for you! I was using a very nice lav mic; either a Sanken, Rode or DPA. I think it was the DPA. As far as other gear, I could recommend cameras for you, or is there something else specifically you are looking for. I'm going to work on some more short tutorials over the next month and setting up a PIP will be one.

Great video! I'm looking to start streaming my church services live to KZbin and I have a few questions. 1. Can I run the feed from the switcher to our DVD recorder? 2. How do I input name keys and other footage into the switcher? 3. I will be using the audio we have from our audio board. Will I be able to record the video from the switcher and the audio from our board together? 4. Do I need any additional equipment to livestream to KZbin? I.e. Capture Cards, software? 5. How do I get visuals from a computer to the switcher? 6. Lastly, is there anything else I need to know/get to successfully livestream? Thanks in advance!

I have been watching a number of these videos on how to use the Roland V 1hd, and they are all very good at showing you how the device works, but the only aspect that no one ever shows, is how they are creating and using Lower-Third Titles etc.. Even though your video was/is excellent in giving great info about the Roland switcher, again there is no info on what program a person would use to put titling into their production. And believe it or not, the Roland website has no information on that either, which I really thought was rather strange. I would love as I am sure others would as well, be able to watch a video on how this would be accomplished, and the steps to take. If you could do that it would be great for sure. I will be getting our churches switcher next week, and when I learn how to use the Roland (especially titling,) maybe it would be fun for me to create a tutorial on this aspect of video production with the Roland switcher ;). I do thank you for your video, as it is very informative and fun to watch, but if you could please create a video on how you do titling, and the program such as Photoshop or Premiere to use, that would be great. By the way, I really liked your........ ISOOOOLAATIOOOONNNN CHAAAAMBA! LOL After your comment on the T-Bar Fader........... I just had to subscribe :) Thanks

Thank you very much for this in-depth video! Do the cameras/HDMI inputs have to be at the same frame rate? With Blackmagic Design Atem TV Studio HD, it requires that all the cameras to have the same framerate for it to function. (59.94fps, 29.94)

sweet review - amazing little switcher. think they'll ever go 10 bit with maybe a mask box? still amazing little switcher!
@dvestore
@dvestore 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Daniel! I'm not sure about 10-bit, but you can create your own mask with a still image or animation that is black and white--you would then use the luma keyer to cut out either the black or white part of the image, which would reveal the source underneath.
@dpixvid
@dpixvid 8 жыл бұрын
+DVeStore, Inc. 10 bit would be nice for color banding issues especially for CG. Luma keys are okay(better true alpha) but black is difficult to keep out of graphics, same with white since opacity levels are grayscale. Still for the $ this switcher has a lot! Wonder if they could include png support in a firmware update? Maybe a frame store?

Wow Jason that is awesome and haven’t you upload church projection upgrades yet and I love the one with the Sony and the NEC the NEC is my favorite brand of the projector because those has a startup beep when power it on and it is amazing how it powers up and if you upload more church projection upgrades and I want to see the NEC projectors that has good lumens and want to see the startup that I like to hear how the power startup beep works and then so forth so what do you think about that

Great video! Does anyone know if this thing works with the canon 5diii? Canon claims it has clean hdmi out so I would hope so, but want to be sure. Also, you would go Roland V1-HD, to a recorder (atmos) , to a capture card, to a computer for live stream? Or do you not need the Atmos to live stream. Sorry a bit naive here. Thanks

What a great video! Fantastic job covering all the details! 2 questions. 1. Can I use the Luma key to put my company’s logo I. The corner of the broadcasted video? Like a watermark. 2. In your example towards the end of putting your singer overlayed in the website background, does that work only because she is standing I front if a white backdrop, similar to a green screen? If I get this product, it will be for live concerts. So the background in my case will be a stage with lots of colors and clutter. Will it somehow be able to cut things/people out the same way as it did your singer? Or again, only because she had a white backdrop behind her? Thank you so much! I look forward to your response.

Thanks for the reply, and it would be great to see a video on how to do this, but I switched our setup to the Blackmagic Pro Studio 4k switcher, because it will give our church room to grow by allowing us to eventually be able to add more cameras or projectors to our broadcast later on without having to purchase a new system. I still look forward to more videos from you though, and hope sometime that I will be able to create a few videos myself once we get our system set up. Steven

Steven: it just so happens that I've been working on some tutorials for the Blackmagic ATEM switchers! One of which goes over how to create a lower third with alpha channel, import it into the ATEM software, then how to overlay it over your live video. Stay tuned to our channel for that later this week.
@Reflections2013
@Reflections2013 8 жыл бұрын
+DVeStore, Inc. Sounds great!!. I assume you are talking about Photoshop when you say alpha channel and import.., and if so, that does bring me to an important question. I use Photoshop CC & Lightroom for my photography, however the question is - do the Blackmagic devices that come with the Photoshop plugin work with Photoshop Elements? I have watched a number of tutorials (or how too's) on using Atem products, but not much at all on how to create titling using photoshop (so I look forward to seeing your tutorials), and have heard nothing at all about the plugin working with any other version of photoshop except CC (or should I just say the professional versions).. You have been so helpful, thank you, and am even more happy that I subscribed :) Steven

Are streaming & record devices like the Datavideo NVS-25 or the blackmagic design h264 pro recorder enough to record a video for editing? Uploading or live streaming directly from your laptop would be easier than transferring the video to your phone. You could use this Magewell capture dongle to get the video from the V-1HD to your laptop. www.dvestore.com/magewell-xi100dusb-hdmi-usb-3-0-capture-dongle-used-446/ Then you need some recording/streaming software. OBS is one option. obsproject.com/

I was pretty impressed by what I found the other day when I first saw the V-1HD. The main thing I didn't like was no still store capability. When I contacted Roland they basically said what I should do is get a little 2 in 1 out HDMI bang box and have another source with the still store up and running on it that I could display as needed. While doable I think that's a crappy idea.

Very helpful, thanx. think I gonna buy the thing. What I missed is a little more on how the effects work. If I understand right it is possible to input audio and manipulate the image with the beat or frequency settings. But how does that work? And since you seem up to date on extra boxes - any suggestion on an analog (composite) to HD720p converter I could put before the mixer? Thanx a lot
@dvestore
@dvestore 8 жыл бұрын
+David Haneke Upconverting composite SD to HD is not often done, but there are some inexpensive options out there, like this one: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1KT0FU0184&cm_re=composite_to_hdmi_converter-_-9SIA1KT0FU0184-_-Product. I'm not sure what the quality will look like; particularly against other native HD sources. As far as auto-switching, let me look further into the BPM settings on the V-1HD.

Thanks for this vid. How is it possible to get video output to my laptop, because i want to stream with obs. Does i need a Capture Device or is it possible with the normal USB slot?

To get the program output of the V-1HD into your laptop, you will need an HDMI to Thunderbolt or USB3 capture device. If Thunderbolt, this: www.dvestore.com/blackmagic-design-ultrastudio-mini-recorder/ If USB3, this: www.dvestore.com/magewell-32060-usb-2-0-3-0-dongle-1-channel-hdmi-plug-and-play/

Does this unit do live video switching? I'm looking at using this device for a podcast setup with two cameras. From my understanding the cameras would go into the V-1HD, out into a capture card (such as a Magewell, like you mentioned in a previous comment), and then into my laptop. Would that setup work? Are there any programs that you recommend to record this into? How would you run a Rodecaster Pro's audio into this? Via the RCA inputs? Thank you!

Wow, Great video. I just bought one last year for my high school video production class but couldn't use it due to covid. We are back in school now and I need help. Video switching is all new technology for me. We are wanting to film high school sports and events. Where can I get more help? Thanks.

great review! thanks. there is a delay for the audio inputs, but is there a way to set delays for the video? I have had issues with varying delays from different cameras' hdmi outputs.

I just flew with our V-1HD Switcher tightly packed in a road box. When I set it up to do PIP with 2 inputs, No matter what input I go to in full screen the left half of the screen is pixelated and off orientation a bit and the right half of the screen is perfectly fine. It happens with both inputs and not in separate recordings of those sources. Do you think our V-1HD was damaged by baggage handlers or TSA inspectors. I'd love to get your POV on this. Other than this issue, the V-1HD has been great for our output. Thanks

Fantastic video, thanks. I'd like to set it up so that no matter what I switch to, it always outputs the audio from HDMI 1. Can you explain how I would do this? Thanks.

Set audio follow to OFF. Set audio input levels for all but HDMI 1 to 0. Adjust audio input for HDMI 1 to whatever level sounds good to you. So basically it functions as an audio mixer.

I have the V-h1 and magewell 32060 usb hdmi. I had it set up, and its been a while, I started getting millions of views on a vid, so might as well step it up. Do you have a diagram for capturing from the desktop into my switcher using the magewell?

As I understand it, this mixer has 4 HDMI inputs that will receive 1080p signals, but the more expensive V-4EX has only one of its HDMI inputs that will do 1080p. Am I getting this right? We are researching all new equipment to upgrade our church video system. Thanks for a very clear video description and demo of this mixer!
@dvestore
@dvestore 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, Matt! That is correct; the V1-HD has four 1080p (or 1080i) inputs. The V4-EX is kind of an analog SD to digital HD crossover unit. You may be more interested in the new VR-4HD, which we have in stock, but not on the website yet. proav.roland.com/global/products/vr-4hd/ It's pretty sweet, with a built in touchscreen and 4 XLR inputs and an 8 channel audio mixer, with hardware faders. It also has USB 3 output for streaming, meaning that your computer will recognize it's output as a camera source, so you can feed it directly into your favorite streaming software. What do you want to accomplish with your new system? I do a lot of work with churches, so I'd be happy to help you achieve your A/V system goals :)

Thanks! Midi is used for remote control. There is a lot of information here in the Roland V-1HD Remote Control Guide: proav.roland.com/global/support/by_product/v-1hd/owners_manuals/22688fb1-5993-46c0-8b8b-75ea9b08fcf8/

Movie making, we're trying to bring our three or four Nikon cameras that are recording a person/s with a green screen that would be keyed out. What I need is my monitor watching 2 people 50/50 on the screen or 3/4 people 25/25/25/25 on screen. key out the green. Now I need to bring the two or four screens of camera recording from the switcher together and have it recorded into one output. Will it do all these

Great video! Looking forward purchasing it. Just one concern though, can I use the Atomos Ninja 2 only with V-1HD? Because I'm afraid the spec says on Atomos it only accepts 1080 30p.

Did you ever find out? Lol, must have after 4yrs??? Also, he mentions it can accept "frame rates" of 59.94 or 50 BUT I'm thinking that's a froidian slip. Meaning to be frequency either PAL or NTSC I'm thinking.

Great video, thanks! Does the unit scale the incoming signal or did you match all 4 of the inputs to one common one? Thanks in advance.
@dvestore
@dvestore 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Michael. The V-1HD does not scale, so you want to set the format switch to match the incoming signal. You can input either 1080p or 1080i, whether the format switch is set to 1080p or 1080i. All internal processing is progressive. It accepts 59.94 or 50 for frame rates. It may sound like a pain, but actually the only source I had to adjust was the Panasonic GH4. The netbook, Macbook Pro and iPod signals were all happily accepted by the V-1HD without issue. Happy New Year!

cool demo, i am looking for some way of connecting 4-5 cameras that can stream to something like this. my problem is getting the signal from the cameras to the mixer. the cameras will be miles apart so cabling will not work hence i am looking at the streaming option. what would i need to get the signal from the camera to the v-1hd?
