Thank you for the good demonstration .The sequencer song builder is what sells this to me . Will the chord memory will be the same as the FA models ? I printed the memory chord list from the reference manual of the FA series .Then I cut out the individual pages .Then I scanned them into the PC .Using a drawing program I enlarged each individual chord list to A 4 and printed it .Now I have in quite large print of the chord reference with the individual note list .If I was designing the synth I would have done one thing differently though .Instead of using the dial to switch between the chord assist I would have had a button or had one of the pads assigned to the chord change .Could this be done through a foot controller ? The fantom will be the centre of the studio .

Does it still has the sampling function like the Fantom X series had? So with multisample and stuff?
@berkut63135 жыл бұрын
Evert Meurs, been looking for that too (went through the manual from Roland website), since my fantom-G's doing it too, but it seems there's no multisampling available, no way to import waveforms to use in your partials, no Sample Robot related way to do that as there is in the Montage/Modx. You can sample, but only play the samples through the pads. Maybe in a firmware update ?
@evertmeurs5 жыл бұрын
If it is not there, that is a big con imho.
@berkut63135 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's just like with the plastic-fa series : you have a kind of sp-404 living as a parasite in your keyboard host. It's drawing power from it, but living a life of its own besides....Nothing a major firmware update cannot solve I guess, but the whole point of multisampling when you are a live musician is to save time and your back by having everything in one machine, instead of carrying many synths around. It's Not just about hitting pads.
@evertmeurs5 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Or you have to carry a expensive laptop with you and be dependent to software crap. Too much work. I will keep my Fantom X7. After 17 years old, it still is the best solution for me. Sorry Roland, but I am not convinced with this new plactic Workstation.
@berkut63135 жыл бұрын
To be fair, it's a metal machine, not a plastic one like the fa series. But you can't have it both ways : sturdiness and portability. I highly recommend the Fantom-G series with the Arx-01 (EP) and 03 (Brass : well thought-out for playability, key to musicianship, more than actual sound quality) expansions. But my G-8 is just impossible to carry at gigs. 73/76 (for splits and in order to avoid octave up/downs from one song to another) synth action keys like the G-7 seems a good compromise. Multisampling-wise, Looking into the Montage7 or the plastic ModX 7 for its portability (but lack of aftertouch, which is handy for live performance). Cheers

beautiful masterpiece! it was just about time to reface the Fantom series! Good one on this! Q: Is this board a next step beyond what you have achieved with the G model? or it¨s just about a new design? In other words: An update or an upgrade? TXS a lot for posting. good vid.

I appreciate legends like Scott Tibbs and Mark Watson showing up again after a long time. The Fantom is certainly great, even the red rear. :) However: the PHA-50, which I know from my RD-2000, is not very piano-like. The keydrop is way too short.
@EvilDragon6665 жыл бұрын
Certain pianos do have short travel, tho.
@RayyMusik5 жыл бұрын
Mario Krušelj Which ones? I’ve played countless acoustic pianos but never encountered this ‘button feeling’. Also my old Dexibell’s Fatar keybed has longer travel. However, I once played an older Roland e-piano with similarly short travel. Seems to be specific to this company. :/
@RayyMusik2 жыл бұрын
@8KisOK Because this is not the only criteria to buy a keyboard. The RD-2000 has thousands of excellent samples, particularly in the expansion packs, and it is a very useful master keyboard due to its easily programmable 8 zones. After all, the action is quite good, just not what a piano player is used to.
