Vibration Systems for Flight Simulators Tutorial

KZbin seems to be filled with marginally valuable tutorial videos that don't even include voice over. This video, on likely an amateur budget, is truly exceptional. It is VERY CLEAR, informative, and the choreography between live video, audio, and graphic overlay is not only valuable content matching the title, is is also very much in my opinion, an excellent example of how to produce, in every sense of the word, a great KZbin informational video without worrying about flashy graphics that only tend to distract from the content. Instant thumbs up and subscribe. I'd watch if you were carving a pumpkin!

For some reason, the previously uploaded video did not work anymore. So here is a re-upload. In my present setup, I use the PWM output of the Shaker card to drive two homemade transducers via two 20W amplifiers. A third transducer is driven by the flightsim audio signal and single 20W amplifier. See tactile transducer section on my website for details.

Please have a look at bffsimulation.com/BFF_Shaker_Driver.php This system has more functions than the shaker card and does not need an external power amp.

Sorry, I don't build kits for others. But you can order the BFF shaker card from BFF website bffsimulation.com. All you need is some transducers and audio amp.

i wonder if a piezo shaker used for structure analysis would useful for higher frequency vibrations and whines??

+raindogred : I guess it could be used. Not sure how to drive piezo shaker though: if it has similar drive requirements as speaker it should be fine. Note that frequency range between 5Hz and 40Hz are normally most important for flightsim vibrations.

+Rolandvanroy you could drive a piezo with an audio amplifier, they are used commercially as tweeters. Just using a standard piezo disc you would get vibration. Harnessing those vibration into something usefull is another matter ;)
