I'm a Professional Pilot Flying the world's biggest Jet. I just collected my 43 B01 Navitimer. I love it. Perfect watch for flying. Reminds me of days of my flying career, where we had to use the slide ruler, we used to hang it on our collar, and had to do calculations on the fly. Wish I had such a luxury watch those days.. In todays modern age of jet flying its more of a piece to have on your wrist to feel those precious days which you had spent learning the art of flying. A well built watch.."If one day my aircrafts Chronograph stops working during a Holding Pattern" I could show off My Brietling and its chrono function ;)

I always wonder why when coloring the seconds hand they just don`t pop it into the paint - it sure is easier ,faster and not a big deal to automate .Plus the reflection of the back of it in videos like that will be great, not messy

The paint would double the thickness of the hand making it harder to fit.

I had once to re-do the tip of the second hand of a Blancpain bathyscape and if you put the hand in the paint you'll have a blob of paint on the hand, really not a good way. If you thin the paint to avoid the blob, then it will not cover the metal color below.

I've always felt the Navitimer has a far more iconic design than either the Speedmaster or Daytona. And far from detracting from the impact, the complexity and busyness of the dial actually adds to the appeal for me. It's just so well balanced and fun, even though the slide rule will remain an enigma in perpetuity ... because I just don't care. What I care about is emotional impact, and the Navitimer provides that in abundance. And that includes the new models. A little expensive perhaps (like all Breitlings), but a fantastic watch nonetheless. I think if Breitling priced their watches closer to Omegas and Tudors they would be more popular and successful. After all, they certainly have the designs to dominate the others in my view.

Love it. But why is there dust or dirt inside the case? It's brand new right. My Breitlings surely didn't come with that option. You can see it at every shot between near the top of the hour hand and the B from the Breitling logo. There's a few spots that are reflections but that spot stands out. Just pulled the trigger on a Navitimer, my first luxury wrist watch! Ended up going with the 43mm black dial with gold wings, the AB0120 from two generations ago. Should be arriving this week in the mail and I could not be more excited. Most will disagree but I've always thought the Navitimer had the coolest loooking dial in all of watchmaking due to its slide rule. I will say I'm not a huge fan of the new models though, I don't like most of the new colors aside from the black 43 and white 41 models but not a fan of the blue, ice blue, green or mint green ones. Too playful for a serious watch like this in my opinion. Also I really don't like how they removed the tachymeter scale and the new ones just don't look the same to me because of that.
@attila22462 жыл бұрын
You can replicate the tachymeter quite easily with the slide rule so I don't mind that too much. Think it helps modernise the dial a bit by making it cleaner but I can understand why some people aren't a fan. My gripe is that the slide rule isn't angled as steeply, the watch looks a bit shallower. Still incredible to look at and wear though.

I think this is the winner in the battle with speedy for sure. In order for speedy to win my heart it will have to go automatic and provide more dials in the 42 and under range. I like them from far but the plastic looking black dial really could be refreshed imo. That’s where Rolex Daytona is the best imo, they don’t try to stick as close to the original design which allows them to make the watch which delivers the qualities of better everyday wearer (for example water resistance and simpler look), that’s how such watches end up on wrists of famous people in the end of the day.
@fpl662 жыл бұрын
Among pilots, we have some grail watches. The Navitimer is one of them, together with GMT Master II and IWC Pilot Chronograph. When someone is promoted as a Captain, is a tradition to get a nice watch. As now the GMT Master II is out of reach at retail price, and lost a bit the aviation related spirit, becoming more a fashion watch for travellers and non travellers, this ice blue Navitimer will be a strong contender to Rolex. I've never considered Daytona a pilot watch. Is a nice chrono, a bit overrated in my opinion. As an "honourable mention" I would say now the Tudor BB GMT is becoming very popular among pilots community, as it gives the same robustness and function of the Rolex, without having headache or concerns while working around the planet.

The new models removed the tachymeter scale. As someone who owns this watch I don't miss it at all. If for some reason you desperately need to calculate the speed of something just divide 3600 by the elapsed seconds. E.g. 20 seconds is 3600/20=180 and 3600/45=80. "Portable eye exam" is the funniest thing I have ever heard about a Navitimer. 😆

26y/o here seriously considering on pulling the trigger on a brand new navitimer B01 chrono. its a watch i can see myself passing down, so i would rather not get it pre-owned.

Thanks Daytona for being the benchmark, lowering the bar, and making many more out there become rockstars! Grear content, as usual! Always learning something new. Thanks!

Stunning watch. Not for me being that size but the dial colours are definable an improvement 👍

Why don't high end watch makers polish both sides of the hands? Your buying fit and finish yet most makers don't finish the underside of the hands. With the mirrored finish of the top side, you can see the ugly underside of the top hands off the reflection. It bugs the hell out of me.

The navitimer and the Seamaster 300m are the best looking watches ever made imo. The latst interation of the navitimer is just sublime- looks way more luxury and expensive than ANY Rolex or even most of the Holy Watch Trinity.

Breitling still using Selitta movements in some of their models? Just asking! And pretty rough paint job on that seconds hand.
@jazzyrick2 жыл бұрын
Perhaps on some low end models, but not that I've seen. Their B01 movement in this model, chronomat, superocean Heritage line and others is so highly thought of that Tudor wanted it for their chronographs. As far as the seconds hand goes, nobody looks at the bottom of the hand except through a loop or extreme macros in a video. That just sounds like nitpicking. Ever seen the bottom of a Rolex second hand? Or hour or minute hand for that matter. Probably Grand Seiko or once you get above Rolex, Omega, etc... will you see finely finished backs of hands.
@eyeheartsushi22122 жыл бұрын
@@jazzyrick You’re 100% correct regarding finishing. The finishing expectations by some of these commentators are unrealistic for Breitling or a lot of other watches under $10K.

Just a shame they don't have this colour in the 41mm version
