Perfekt. You think a Rolex Dealer make this like you?NEVER. He scratched me before. When the screws after work looks like new, than its mean perfect work. Do it yourself. Than you know what you are getting. Mister your work is 100 % perfect. I like it❤

I used a 1.4mm screw driver that came in my Stanley set, it was the smallest screw driver in the set. Also use a "low strength" threadlocker like Loctite 222MS (Purple), never medium or high strength as these 2 will cause issues removing screws.

Nice one. I doubt even dealers are as safe as this. They quickly scurry out of sight to do it so I've never seen them do it but Is say that they aren't all trained properly. Though i would just add a blob of 222 to the screw thread rather than the hole

Markus F I have a video on bracelet removal. In terms of cleaning, I suggest little and often. I use a soft toothbrush and hand soap (not dish soap) as it’s less likely to affect the seals. Probably do this every few months depending on use. I always wipe over my watch with a spectacle cloth at the end of the day to reduce build up of grease also.

thanks, for such a great informative video, just 3 questions (last two specifically related to the oyster bracelet of your video): 1) any reason to not apply the loctite directly on the screw thread? 2) if I need to remove 2 links, It make sense to remove a link from each side of the bracelet, or there is a technical reason for which is better to remove both links from the same side? 3) if jI need to remove one link only, I guess it can be removed from any side, correct? many thanks!
@TheEnglishWatch
@TheEnglishWatch Жыл бұрын
Glad you found it useful. 1. You don’t want to push the loctite through the links. This will cause contamination of the pivots. 2/3. One each side works if the balance of the clasp is level with the watch head. If only removing one link, decide which way you prefer the clasp to sit under your wrist. May be trial and error. Hope that helps.

ive been too afraid to do this myself for almost 15 years. i got my rolex as a gift from my father a long time ago, its a 50 anniversary submariner kermit green it has the black face and steel band. when you said they are just as likely to scratch it as you are i suddenly took it upon myself to finally make this watch fit! i know i took alot more precautions to prevent scratching than any guy at the jewelry store would have and if i scratched it myself i at least know i was trying to be super careful and can only be mad at myself. it ended up being super easy to do, the screws were a little hard to get loose but this watch hasnt been touched since it was purchased almost 20 years ago. it still has the protective cling on clear plastic on the backside of the watch.

Great video, one of my pins is really difficult to remove, I think it’s got to much lock tight. How do I get round that?
@TheEnglishWatch
@TheEnglishWatch 3 жыл бұрын
There are a few methods. 1. Heat the threaded end with a hair dryer. It gets hot, so be careful. 2. Submerge the bracelet in very hot water. Don’t let the watch head go in. 3. Flame the threaded end with a yellow flame from a lighter. I don’t like to do this as you can colour the steel if not careful. Best tip is to resign yourself to the fact you may damage the screw head and buy a pack to put new ones in. Usually about £15 for a pack of 5 from an AD. I wouldn’t buy cheap ones off eBay. Good luck.

Hard to say. Usually you can wrap the bracelet around the wrist and pinch the loose links together to get an idea. If it’s just loose and you can’t pull 2 links up, maybe 1 will do. Sometimes that is the case. Heat is the best option, not sure I’d go for a flame as this can discolour the link. I have used a hair dryer in the past, but you need to be heating the threaded end. Sometimes you need to sacrifice the screw head and buy some new ones or use one from the spare. Make sure the screwdriver is a good fit. Otherwise its a trip to the AD.
