Perhaps so! Never tried myself, but from early experience, cheap tools tend to not last. You may end up buying multiple cheap versions, which can end up costing the same as the expensive one.

@@LumeShotI think I’ll take my chances, seeing as the $20 pliers would have to fail 8 times before I’ll have spent $180. Not very likely is it?

Thanks for posting such a great video and discussing the worries of changing a bracelet. I’m going to try this with my newly purchased Air King this weekend. Do you have any videos on changing the deployment clasp to fit with other straps like Rubber B and are there any that you recommend or use yourself? Hope you get this…

Have watched you grow over these few years now it’s a pleasure to see you still going stronger than ever, I haven’t watched the last 2-3 years with having gone through cancer and a few bereavement’s but this is a great channel and I wish you nothing but success. Quick question where did you get the spring bar tool with the rubber bands/grip or have you got a link.

I have a question. I got a new Rubber B strap for my GMT II ceramic bezel Rolex. As you mentioned, I didn’t want to do the work mussel so I took it to a watch store. The clerk told me that the rubber strap wouldn’t work because the bracelet of the Rolex doesn’t come off as you’ve shown. Instead the first sections of the strap closest to the watch aren’t removable? Does this make sense?

Great video! A lot of people ask me how I use this tool when I remove my oyster bracelet. 🙂 I actually use a third party handle, but I use the Bergeon tips from Esslinger. About half the cost, but it's worth it. I agree that it's worth the money to get tools which save you the hassle. I also just changed my sub to an Artrem strap too! It's a nice change of pace. Keep up the great content! I learned a lot from your videos.

Thank you, clearly I have found someone after my own heart. I completely freaked out when then jeweler handed it back to me, proudly, and I marveled how it is that I can see the most microscopic scratch like it's outlined in neon. So I can be sitting here at 2am appreciating the tip about thermal tape, but I've got oysters from the 80s that have never had the bracelet taken off, and for some reason they are not coming off despite pressing on both sides simultaneously with those reset things in the iphone box. taking a break before I destroy them on accident.
@JK-ze3dd
@JK-ze3dd Жыл бұрын
most appreciated the comment that no one cares more about your watch than you do. It's more than how much they cost, it's just so well made, possibly the best made thing in the world, that is the value of it even if it's just plain stainless steel. I have gone to New York just to take my grandfather's crazy solid gold Rolex in, to be told that it had just outlived its life by whoever Rolex doesn't realize is representing them now. A Rolex that has outlived its life, great. Later I found out you need to wind the perpetual at least 25 times if it's been stopped for a while. Reading online people going nuts taking it in for servicing and can't figure out why it keeps stopping for no reason. I should just do it, give up any pretence of a profession and go to Swiss watchmaking school, but they are not taking applications at this time.

You can take precautions and use small amounts of electrical tape over the lugs to protect scratching. This is what most reputable jewelers do to ensure no matter what tool they use they protect the lugs from damage.

Funny all these video's don't mention that they Oyster is super easy to remove and install. My dog can do it with her tail! You are aware that there are other watches and bracelets in the Rolex line-up do you not? Just once I would like to see one of these vids show how to install a Jubilee bracelet with the 455 end links. Now that would be something worth knowing! Maybe be more forthcoming and title your vid to mention only late model solid end linked Oysters?
