@@watchandrew Quick question for you mate. Ever consider having your DateJust41 bracelet brushed by an AD? Sorry if this is a serious breach of channel/video etiquette to jump from Explorer to DateJust question. I'm waiting for delivery of my DJ41 blue, oyster, flat bezel and I've already scheduled the bracelet brushing to avoid fretting over the inevitable scratches the PCL bracelet will have. I've seen multiple blokes do this with their GMT's and DJ's and it looks factory. Just curious as to your take.

I would consider it for sure,,, but if I was you I’d ride it out as long as you can,,, it looks stunning when you first open that box! I simply washed mine with soap and water only this week and from a distance of head to wrist it looked amazing in normal light, even now.

@@watchandrew I think you're bang on with the out of the box wow factor. I just like a bit of the understated look. But, who am I kidding it's a Rolex so why fight it? Ironically I passed on a great deal for an Explorer last year to wait for a DJ41. I am strongly considering a Dangerous9 custom Strap that I can swap out for wear to change things up some. I'd check them out if you're not familiar. John (who does the work there) is a master at his craft and he makes amazing straps that often make a timepiece (even a Rolex) look even better. The Explorer and the Speedmaster are two perfect classic watches in my opinion, and the two most desirable for me, with the Reverso a close 3rd. I've been waiting for the Explorer since September, patiently. When I saw the announcement of the new Speedmaster I contacted my Omega Boutique and was luckily able to get a Hesalite last week. It's stunning. It almost has me wanting to forget about the Explorer, it's that good. But I know I will regret that if I do, as I think Rolex will ruin the Explorer with an updated 41mm (guessing based on the OP41/DJ41/Sub 41) and discontinuing the 39mm like they did with the OP39. Anyway I ma LOVING my new Speedmaster. Can't stop looking at it.

Really enjoyable video as always. You're spot on about the explorer and the datejust being similar, it's because they are literally the same watch. Rolex only make 4 watches: 1.The oyster perpetual (includes datejust, daydate, explorer etc). 2.rolex Daytona. 3.-Rolex Cellini. 4.-Submariner. (includes GMT master and yatchmaster). 5. Yatchmaster 2 And that's it really. Maybe the sea dweler depending on how you count it. But yeah. Even the basic Oyster Perpetual had (has?) an option to have the 3-6-9 dial of the explorer one. Still, it can't be denied that it's a good looking and reliable watch.

For me the best thing about Rolex is their wearability- they all just wear well, they’re robust and reliable and look good. People can say “Rolexes are for show offs” or “people only want the name” and that may be the case sometimes but they’re simple and classically designed- yeah you can get an omega but it will be 16mm thick or have stupid helium valves and skeleton hands on it with a non tapering bracelet and a bezel that doesn’t turn easily.

Agree it’s great but it’ depends how you feel on the day . Sometimes you can think it’s the perfect no fuss , no hassle daily wear . Sometimes you think it’s a bit dull . I’ve only worn it once it’s a great watch but I’m torn because I do think it’s kind of bland and it dosent excite me .on the other hand it sits superbly on the wrist and does what it’s meant to do brilliantly. If you are a gentleman, 39mm is the sweet spot. Some watches may work best at 40mm, and a simple dress watch at 38mm, but anything much larger shows poor taste, and anything much smaller is difficult to carry off, and can look effeminate. Just my take on it, I understand that others feel differently. Fashions come and go - it's not all that long since 34mm was standard in men's watches.

Tried it on in an AD 6 months ago and I was disappointed. Personally think it's overrated and overpriced, the iwc mark 18 and longines spirit look better and are just as versatile.

Haha sorry you’re not a watch enthusiast. You’re a brand (Rolex) enthusiast. I don’t think you’ll ever enjoy any other watch brands unless it has Rolex written on the dial. Kinda sad. Also, my used watch dealer sells 10x the 36mm Explorer over the 39mm Explorer. People are still screaming for the 36mm size and I doubt they’re female.

What?! The explorer 1. 39mm has been on the market since 2010. I had then the 36mm and upgraded for 39mm. Get informed about it. Then they made some changes in 2016 and today they have realised the two tone and back for the 36mm... If not well informed do not show off. Delete this video please.

@@watchandrew everyone has different wrist size, tastes, sentimental values, etc . People should stop being bias. Smaller watches are classic, and bigger watches are modern. Even though my wrist size is 7.5 inches, I do prefer smaller watches for their classic appearance. Also if I see someone wearing a smaller watch, it tells me that person has a good taste. Keep in mind that watches are getting larger because people are getting chubbier. Wear what you like and allow other people to be part of this wonderful Watch community. By the way, I love both of your watches. Great choice.

@@watchandrew hahah these stupid references are really confusing. Rolex redesigns one watch and doesnt change the reference while another watch like the 14060 gets an m placed at the end of it.
