At the moment, there are a number of luxury watches that are enjoying previously unimaginable levels of scarcity and appreciation, and the green Rolex Submariner known as the "Hulk" (116610LV) is an excellent example. Because of the now extreme prices and hard-to-get nature of the Hulk in the the current watch market place, I wanted to suggest some alternative watches that are of course less expensive and easier to get, and also take up a green dial diver color scheme. If you like these kinds of alternatives videos, suggest some other watches we can provide alternatives for in the comments!

Great video Teddy. I'm not new to the green dial fad, they have always been my favorite color scheme for watches. Green dials somehow convey a different message and I dig it. The green dial Tissot Power Matic 80 and the green Formex are on my (affordable) grail list. Again, great video 👍

Great video Teddy! This will be a very long post. But promises to be informative. As a long time person who is very aware of the inner dealings of the watch industry i can shed some light on the subject of using non-in house movements. The Aqua-Racers 2824-2 in the Aqua-Racer is not a drop in like on other watches. Like the Brietling Calibre 17, Breitling gets ETA kits, not whole movements. Same as Tag-Heuer. Switzerland law prohibits ETA from providing movements to companies of a certain size. This is why micro brands can still get them and Brietling and Tag Heuer cannot. This is the work around they use as technically they are not getting movements, it is classified as ‘parts’. These ‘kits’ are not assembled, and are of chronometer grade to begin with. A far cry from the already assembled lower grade 2824-A2 a micro brand uses. This is why Tag-Heuer’s latest release of the caliber 5 was a chronometer. You have to use chronometer grade parts to achieve such accuracy without reworking the movement entirely. Tag-Heuer has the know how and resources to make a 2824-A2 into whatever they want. They are a in house manufacturer after all. The Heuer 02 is one of the best there is, regardless of manufacture. Tag has also won the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. The highest achievement for any watch company. www.gphg.ch/horlogerie/en A simple search on google will quickly tell you how most users of this movement are consistently achieving chrometer performance without the certification. forums.watchuseek.com/f25/how-accurate-your-calibre-5-tag-3229890.html People forget Tag-Heuer is part of the LVMH group, with tremendous resources at their disposal. They also won the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie multiple times for their innovation with watch movements! Such as a tour billion and the mikogirder. And recently with the updated caliber 5 a-magnetic isograph, which is a totally in house mainspring. The balance bridge and balance wheel and rotor are already in house parts made by Tag already in that movement. They modified it further with the isograph technology. wornandwound.com/baselworld-2019-tag-heuer-autavia-isograph/ By Swiss law in order to call a movement a different name if your company is a certain size the movement must have a certain amount of " customization" to it to use a different moniker. Such as Breitling caliber 17, Tag Heuer caliber 5, IWC 30110, Tudor also customizes their own 2824-2 but does not use a different name, and so on. Most assume it's a standard low grade ETA movement. Which couldn't be further from the truth. A chrono meter grade 2824-2 assembled from ETA is fantastic as it is, Tag-Heuer even customizes it further from that. So do all the companies I mentioned. Can a standard 2824-A2 or SW200 do this? kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJfdYpumnKyVmtU Only knock against Tag is there are different grades of the calibre 5. Lower graded calibre 5s in the link series or formula one are not the same. These are Selitta SW200s and are not chrono meter grade. The Aqua-Racer and Carrera day and day date use the chrono meter grade movements. This is where the disparity and confusion comes from. Tag should call the lower end movements something else. Brietlings Calibre 17 is so heavily modified that the movement has mostly Brietling parts. To call it a 2824-2 would be like calling a Lexus a Toyota. IWCs 30110 in the XVIII takes it a step further in they only use the base plate from the 2824-2! The rest of the parts are all IWC. If you look at the new IWC movements in the Spitfire the in house 32110 which is a all in house movement, it is a carbon copy of the 30110 with a longer mainspring. It became more cost effective to recreate the 30110 as a in house movement than to modify it from a 2824-2. www.watchtime.com/reviews/all-fired-up-reviewing-the-iwc-pilots-watch-automatic-spitfire/ Brietlings Calibre 17 is just as heavily modified, but is more cost effective because ETA allows them to just order the base plate and two other parts as those are the only ETA parts of the movement! The rest is all Brietling. Hope your subscribers found this information usefull and shed some light on the whole ETA or in house debate. Cheers.👍

A great idea Teddy to look at alternatives to a discontinued watch so many want with prices few can afford on the secondary market. As for the options mentioned the Oris cal 400 would get my vote, the dial is gorgeous and has symmetry,10 year servicing and warranty so shows the faith Oris has in the longevity of its new movement (just set it as per the instructions). I have this with the blue dial and find it very comfortable.

Great choices, Teddy. The green hydro conquest on the green rubber strap is a bargain and stands out among its blue and black siblings; love mine, and its quality finishing puts it at home in the watch box next to a couple pricier neighbors. Also think the Oris with that green sunburst is a standout on this list for bang for the buck. Love the Bulova Devil Diver as a party on the wrist, but the orange one is the must-have, especially if you want some Doxa-like love for a lot less money.

Amusing ending. My search for a green dial watch did find the Oris and Tag Hauer mentioned. I rejected Rolex despite temptation. IWCs green chrono became a strong contender as I did not want a date window. But it seems Glashutte Original has won out. Not the SeaQ but the PanoMaticLunar! Maybe it's the watch with the biggest date window. Even worse than a date window would be a green dial watch on a bracelet. That's what the Aqua Terra is for. It's not that I have a strong taste for things but rumor has it that the Skyflake is meant for a black strap instead of navy blue. At least navy blue is tolerable. Now the task is how to get that Glashutte.

It's nice to know other people also find the horology and artistic function work synergy merge but EYE have a background that could extend the functionality of the standard watch by applying quantum level electronic enhancements to the dial design. I'm RE TIRED so I'm knot particularly motivated but then if someone were to RE ACH out that would bee fine but I'm among a handful around the world WHO even know or appreciate what I'm talking about. My favorite color is green and I’ve been looking for an LV alternative for years. I love the Patek and AP green’s but everything else does not appeal to me at all and in any way, especially the army green or aqua green in the options you provided in this video (and whatever the Tag green is). Closest to my preference have been Breitling and IWC green dials. I also don’t like the Omega Aqua Terra green. I would be curious to hear your opinion on those in the next tier up from the ones in this video.

I'm confused, the Glashutte Original watch was Black on black right? How is that a Hulk watch?

What do people think about Revue Thommen Diver 17571.2129. Identical looking to the Hulk. Swiss Made. Probably decent quality.

The steinhart ocean double green is also a good recommendation if you don't mind homage watches

The G.O. models are sweet. I saw them in person recently. They're expensive, but they look like it. Some luxury watches I saw disappointed in person vs. online, but these did not. If they could up their power reserve to something along the lines of the big boys, it'd be an even better buy.

alright teddy, don't burn me at the stake, but i have a L-XL wrist @ 8.75"-9", depending on who's measuring, but I prefer watches in the 36-39mm range with my biggest being 41mm (and some giants that were gifts, lol). i've even worn 34mm vintage pieces. not sure what the deal is with the huge wrist-huge watch correlation?

Great video! I am currently looking for a green diver. Idk: I might start with the Mido 200c, and then upgrade from there

Hey Teddy. Like everyone else, I have been looking to add a green dial to the collection and have been looking at the Aquis and Captain Cook. Probably going to settle on the new Aquis. I would suggest you do a follow-up video on other general (non-diver) green dial watches you recommend - IWC, Breitling, Omega, etc. I would love to hear your thoughts!

I own the Longines Hydroconquest in Green on the green strap. Beautiful watch. The let down though is the bracelet. It's garbage, with a stamped clasp and sharp edges. Feels like it has not gone through polishing.

I purchased the Oris because of their history, the value for what you get and the beautiful green dial. I think the green dial on the Oris Aquis Date kills the Hulk!
