Wow! Finally I understand what it means to put the watch "in beat"!! The roller jewel on the escapement wheel, must be at rest in the exact middle point of the "horns" of the pallet fork @10:07 on, if someone is interested. Outstanding explanation! Thank you Richard!!

Thank you VERY much for this video. One of my lady friends and I are saving up for our first Rolexes and I have been almost more fascinated with the 2XXX series movements than the 3XXX series. So TINY!!!!!

Also I have always screwed my stem in for reference. I’m by no means a pro. I started working on watches with my grandpa when I was about 5 and have messed with them ever since. I have always been able to repair my watches. My grandpa had a lot of really nice older tools that really help. The only thing I have had to get a few things, like my timegrapher. Really enjoy the channel. I’m learning things I never knew. My grandpa owned a furniture store and he tinkered with all kinds of stuff. I do the same. I have an insane amount of old watches from him. We use to make a watch from parts off others.

Richard Perrett Watchmaker hello Richard, again, a big fan of your work , I consider you the ultimate artist from the way that you turn almost “nothing” to a beauty timepieces, admire your passion... Just a quick question please, I have always been curious to know “ from a professional of course” - what are your thoughts about the watch movement“let’s say Rolex” when sometimes the watch is running slow, or speeding up “ losing time vs. gaining time per day” - would you say that a watch for example is running + 1 sec a day is a better performer than a - 1 sec a day ? As so far I got my sub and my gmt “brand new from the dealer and both of them are loosing 2.5 sec a day exactly, very curious to know your professional thoughts on that, thanks again and wish you a pleasant day. Thank you, P.s: would be awesome if you made a video about this to sort this out to the watch community for good 🤗🌹

Wow neat tool. I have used single sided razor blades the kind made for window scrapers and it does a great job of removing those bezels. Also never removed any gold ones only stainless ones. I wouldn’t attempt gold unless I had the proper tools.

The screws to regulate the rate are more than 1 on some Rolex watches? do you need to adjust all the screws when adjusting the rate?
@richardperrettwatchmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hi Oskar ... timing screws needs to be adjusted in pairs so that the poise of the balance is maintained. This process is called dynamic poising and is quite complex and beyond the scope of this answer. Just google 'Dynamic Poising of a watch balance". Hope this helps. Richard
