the bracelets on rolex are very tough to beat. it really makes the watch more attractive to purchase when you know your getting a great bracelet. unfortunately the case shape didn't fit me well. but there's always Tudor. a brand i poke fun at constantly but they remind me alot of the old rolex. when they were affordable tool watches meant to be used as tools.

In my opinion this is a great watch. I do have some reservations on the new movement. For one the barrel will have to be replaced. The other is service cost will be higher for this model. The 3130 if you get it serviced within 5-7 years you won’t have to worry about those shavings. The one benefit is for this movement you may only have to service it once every ten years depending on how often you wear it and if you actually use the watch. Most watch makers believe the 3130 is a watchmakers movement more so than this new one. I would say that there pros and cons to this new movement to go along with the positives. I do believe the ball bearing is great but have heard people complain about the movement being a little louder. Also, for the bezel. It looks great but if you knock it on a door you might crack it. I have seen damaged bezels and shattered ones. Replacement is $500. Aluminum will fade and scratch but won’t shatter or crack. Also, it only costs $50-$60. I wish they would have a 2 liner version of the new model. Lastly, the lug width of 21mm is a drawback. Why not 20mm? I realize they did this to get rid of the fat lugs of the maxi case. The watch does not conform to most wrists either. I could pull it off but know most don’t have my wrist size and shape.

Great review. I was thinking about this as my next watch, I had the 16610 and skipped the 116610 because it was too blocky for my 6.75 wrist. But have read the 126610 wears better than the previous generation. Interesting point you made about the gap as a result of the thicker case back. This was the reason why I eventually sold the 16610 because I found the case back caused pressure points on my small wrist and I sometimes found it uncomfortable, mainly when my wrist swelled, and the watch became slightly tighter. I also kept noticing the large gap between the case and the wrist and couldn't unseen it. When you mention the 126610 was uncomfortable, was it for the same reason I mention about the 16610?

Yes I think the 3235 is louder because it has a new ceramic ball bearing rotor much better for longevity but is louder then sleeve bearing. btw... You wrote the same ref numbers just LV and LN so the movement should be the same in both. You might need a service.

I have the 40 mm maxi hulk. Flat wrist? No, so, it also sits hanging on my 6.25" wrist. Though the indices and hands are white gold, beside the GS diver, only one sparkles. Philippe Dufour prefers steel spring if you know how to work on it like the one on 9SA5. He said he is ok with silicon if proven steel cannot be better.

The spring in the Rolex is an alloy, not silicon as Rolex prefer to work with metals also.

the AR coating is almost non-existent. Its there but barely! I have no clue if this is my last rolex review or the first of many. who knows. Price wise it's close to Chrono24.ca seems ok. I think the barrel is a ticking timebomb mistake from rolex. It puts a deadline on the watches. But rolex are pretty good with parts for at least 50 years so i've seen. but wondering in the future what will happen. Also, maybe rolex has a way to open it without damage and they can clean the inside put new spring and re-use barrel. a special inhouse tool non-rolex watchmakers do not have? that would solve the problem if such a tool exists. Yes the watch is not for me either. 100% uncomfortable for my wrist. It drove me nuts wearing it all day. but I did it just to see if I could live with it. and no I cannot. Finish wise and dust wise inside its impressive but I saw maybe 10 specks. while my 62mas has zero. and my Seiko's bezel is a bit nicer. less back play and more solid. but I am Cheating as my seiko was made in GS studio.

That amplitude seems low. Maybe shall improve once the movement settles in - but do even Rolex's need time to settle in? ;-) The 114060 I have stays above 310 and the graph is linear, but I find the positional variation performing better on my 2824's than on the Rolex. Overall its a gem of a piece, feels masculine but beautiful at the same time, and one gets used to how high it sits on the wrist after some wear time, especially if the bracelet is worn a little tighter than usual. I have a flat, 6.75 inch wrist.

hahah I was going to do a comparison video but no one would believe me and just say biased but lets just say. SLA no back play and better bezel action...the subs some clicks have back play some don't. SLA no dust inside. Rolex I counted 7 specs under extreme macro still very impressive as most watches have a lot more. But its unfair the SLA is made in GS studio by GS watchmakers. So its cheating! But the Rolex bracelet is a thing of beauty and untouchable. Perfect fitment onto the case and solid feel. finishing perfect and no endlink wobble. the SLA terrible 19mm lugs so hard for me to find good straps...especially rubber style. and the silicone it comes with isn't super comfy like on the new willard for example...nightmare!

Don’t get me wrong I did like them but the black sub can be very plain after a while I never felt that way about the explorer ii..still a great watch but not as special as most trying to hype it up..end of the day if you can drop 10k on a watch there are much more out there with character then the sub which basically a watch that most people will pull just to show off ..and that’s how I exactly felt about the submariner..that’s why probably the long waiting list on them as most people at this price category will choose a submariner..I own omega seamaster as well which be honest besides of the bracelet just as good watch then the sub

Honestly, I would sell it over retail to a chump, and then find a used 40mm ceramic sub if you must have ceramic. 41 is a massive mistake, I just don't believe these watches are going to be respected in the future. Sure, you'll retain value, but I don't see appreciation unless Rolex pivots back and stops this run after two years or something and returns to the proper proportions. The only thing the 41 fixed is the blocky look of the supercase Rolexes, but they didn't need to increase the size, they could've just shaved down the lugs and kept it at 40. Also Rolex movements have been good enough for like 50 years already. Don't get too hung up on these little improvements, IMO.
