Seeing the rope snap with a single pulley reminds me of having used 3 pulleys on a single rope to lift a very stuck GQ up a steep slope many years ago. Was lucky enough to come across the stuck vehicle at the same time as a rigger and got taken to school in the best way. All the cars pooled our gear and with 3 pulleys on that single rope it gave massive mechanical advantage. The 12000lbs rated dynema rope on a Tigerz winch lifted the rear of the GQ clear off the ground without a worry

A common misconception, but that “double line pull” u had setup getting out of the bog, isn’t a double line pull. All it achieves is using some more rope off the spool. For a double line pull to work, the pulley must be connected to the load. Think of it like this, tie a rope around your waist, through a pulley & back down. Now lift yourself up. Double line pull? Nope only a redirection. A self recovery double line pull requires 2 pulleys. Through a pulley back to the vehicle, through another pulley & then back to the anchor. 3 lines equals a double line. Confusing for a lot of people, but that’s the physics.👍

You are wrong. The point of the anchor and the vehicle moves halfway forward as the rope winds onto the winch. You are sharing half the load approximately on each of the two lines. A triple line pull splits the load in three.

Literally would have been a write off if burto didn’t use the left boot and they had a mate to work on it. If they had of taken it to a body shop straight off the rock they probs would have written it off. I’ve seen cars written off with a front fender bent…. Labour, paint. It all adds up and it is a 30 year old car at the end of the day.
