As a kid I used to play Theme Park World on the PC it was brilliant! I was looking forward to this and was considering buying it. Soon as I saw the first review for it I passed. Great review. Sadly, this game turned out exactly how I expected it to. Atari continues to throw the RCT name on trash and expect the RCT fanbase to kiss their feet in appreciation. The mobile game this was based on is garbage and it seems like this version is better but still nowhere near worthy of the name attached to it.

Planet Coaster may not work well on my PC and is not coming to Switch. Some say, the console versions of Planet Coaster will be rubbish unless you have a next gen console, which I cannot justify. There is a way to go back to the main menu, without need to close the game. You open the settings menu (right-most icon in the bottom of the screen). In the bottom-right corner, there's a green icon depicting a door with an arrow, labeled "Exit Park". You can touch on it or press the X button. It takes a few seconds to actually exit to the main menu, because the game saves the park.

Steller review. Well written and honest to your watchers and very fair in the result. Why i love your channel so much. i have loved this game since the amiga. Its seems to have changed beyond recognition since then. There has been a few 'free to downloads' appearing in the eshop too , and the quality management hasnt been very active. i hope switch does not turn into a mobile platform for mobile business models.

Great review Glen! I cannot believe they don’t allow you to get back to the main menu. That would drive me insane. I was very excited for this one but when I heard that they essentially took the mobile version and just removed the pay-to-play aspect I was very bummed because, like you mentioned, there is no risk-and-reward element to it. I spent many days of my life as a kid building epic theme parks in the original Roller Coaster Tycoon on my PC. This version looks so disappointing and feels like an attempt by the developers to get easy money. Maybe I’ll pick it up if there’s ever a huge sale.

I have played this game on my mobile, but was disappointed really fast. This game on the switch is exactly the same as the mobile game. But that was expected form Rollercoaster. I’m stuck, found a RCT Classic from the App Store it’s the original game for phone/tablet however I’m not sure if the screen size will ruin the game so I turned to this switch version for a tv experience but like the narrator says it’s is a rinse and repeat system not sure what one to go for to re create that experience I had as a child.

You go to the settings and press x to save and go to the main menu, it took me forever to figure out! I love RCT ever since I had it on PC when I was a kid. I have the dubbed PC version of the original RCT on my android phone and I actually prefer that one to RCT Adventures, I like having goals and a challenge to complete, the switch version really lacks that and I'm super disappointed at how easy it is.

Loved playing this game on PS2, so much so that the incredible graphics are still imprinted on my mind. I remember being able to walk through the parks as if you were actually a guest in them, each one with its own entertaining theme, and see with awe the scale of your creations--and, yes, even ride them. I'm sure there are others that remember. This game is TRASH in comparison, and to think they slapped a $60 pricetag on it. Thanks so much for this excellent review!!! Because of you I'll be spending my money on Super Mario Odyssey instead.

Just goes to show just how deeply engrained into the gameplay free to play business models are. When gameplay is dictated by the business model, the entire game suffers. Honestly they would have been better off porting an older game from console or PC.

Thanks for the review because I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to start a new game. I thought that maybe I needed to achieve the final permit but nothing happened after I did that. No balloons or congratulations you completed the level--nada. I went on quite the search to figure out what I was doing wrong. There were some decisions you could choose between in the beginning of the game but like after year 2 you don't receive any more dialogue or challenges. I've been playing this game since the beginning and it definitely was way too easy with very little obstacles or opportunity for failure. Also, more decorations would be helpful since that affects the park rating and guest happiness more than past versions. I was super excited to get this game, my BFF and I used to play all of the time. Unfortunately we both agree this version was a bit lacking. I'll still play it but I felt that the game had such high standards to live up to and it did not.

I was so excited to get this on switch for Xmas! Played the original game on pc for years and loved it. This however is trash. And I’m never this negative. Feels like there’s nothing to it, extremely basic, you can really get involved. You just plop rides and shops everywhere. Very glitchy too and controls aren’t the best, especially when they reverse for no reason!

I've played the PC version of this game... It honestly pales in comparison to the older entries in the series. The complexity of this management sim has really sunk... It's as if they've dumbed it down for the "new" generation. Do they think that the young generations are too stupid to put in an ATM when the customers need to get money out? Or maybe it was the fact that us older kids used to drop the naughty customers in the water... heh Either way this game is pretty lame. Even beyond the "dumbing down" of the system, it's filled with bugs and incredibly laggy. I can't speak for the switch version, but on the PC, it's an easy miss.

Another terrible thing not mentioned in this review is that you can't build custom tracks for other rides than rollercoasters. Why isn't the boat ride a ride you can put in the lake? Why isn't there a car ride where you can make the track and the landscape yourself. It's really a downgrade of the original.

Is there even a reason to buy this at all? Sounds to me like choosing between throwing $50 away or getting some in game advantages for $50. If I just never pay for any microtransactions, is there even a difference gameplay wise between the two platforms? I had this in my wishlist, but refused to pay $50, that's insane. Now it's on sale, but after watching this I think I might just download it on my tablet instead.

What a let down. I would pay $60 in a heartbeat for a better version of this game. A version that does make you utilize space efficiently as well as balance the budget would be addicting. The waiting would be lame, but I would take overall "realism" over a quicker gameplay.
