Heyyyy! I skate with a skate group every Weds night here in NYC. We meet at Union Square and roll out 30+ people deep. It really helps to roll out in a group because we are way more visible to cars/bikes/pedestrians. To be honest, most people and cars don’t mind so long as you’re in the bike lane and/or being respectful. It’s a great time! And honestly there’s nothing like skating 8-14miles through Manhattan at night every week! Take care! :)

I cannot wait til I gain the confidence to skate in such a crowded place. How do you skate without having to look down for rocks , cracks and debris? It looks like you skate without ever looking down. Lol but ummmm what’s up with Marcus though? Hayyyyyy Marcussss 👀 lol 😂
@MiauMichigan4 жыл бұрын
Same!!! I only skate on empty streets and I look down constantly to avoid obstacles, even tiny pebbles
@scorpnz44334 жыл бұрын
You do it by looking ahead. You can get an idea by walking & looking ahead around say 15ft or more, usually more. Small stones,debris & cracks are easy to spot, peripheral vision & spacial awareness takes care of people. As for not tripping on stones while at speed the trick there is pressure on which leg is on the ground & leading. This is done by directing your body weight to that leg & channeling it to your foot. I'm talking the odd stone here & there not a whole bunch in a clump lol. Bigger stones can be an issue, again it's about being ready & to know what's ahead or being ready to place the other leg down if you hit & trip. It's best to use knee pads,elbow & always use wrist guards. Edit what i mean by channeling is your sured footedness pushes the stone out of the way
@e_lena96564 жыл бұрын
@@MiauMichigan you shouldn't look directly under your feet but on the road ahead (just like when riding a bike or a scooter) Honestly, I hate navigating through the crowd even when I'm in my regular boots so I doubt I would be happy skating in the crowd like that..
@morenabonita88344 жыл бұрын

I think it'd be kinda like driving a car? Ofc only Indy can answer w/ her own thoughts, but if I were to GUESS that's what I would compare it to? Like, when you're driving you look far ahead and only briefly check your sideview mirrors every now and then? I think it's like that. Where when you skate you look ahead, while being spacially aware? IDK
