What, how do I avoid rental skates if it's my first time?

I don’t know honestly I use rentals because I don’t want to use money on ones and then relize that I dont like it . Also what price should I get for my skates to I know there good quality. I’m a kid who fits in size UK 1.5 so I don’t want really expensive

For me, avoiding rental skates is impossible because I go ice skating so infrequently that everytime I do I have a different shoe size

Another thing with rental skates I had to get 3 different pairs because the first were too tight, then the second was almost perfect but the blade was crooked then I finally found a good pair

Not a bad video on itself but honestly if you are worried about tripping you should at least those first times stick to rentals. There is no purpose on buying skates and have them sharpened if you are coming back once or twice a year

Ok so here is a tip I went ice skating for the first time today honestly it is not hard with rental skates they were really nice also the people gave a penguin to all the beginners it’s very slippery but it’s so fun I just glided but it hurts a lot if you fall on your bottom also if you are scared of falling (like me) I suggest trying to walk around a bit bit until you get some support the support makes you skate within 10 minutes for me but it’s not for everyone also your feet will ache after and it’s easy to walk on solid ground with the blades I hope this helps Also keep some gloves and something warm cuz it’s a bit cold

Um...just tighten your ankles. If your ankles are wobbling, they aren't tight enough. Toes don't have to be tight. Rental skates such and dull blades suck but you can't avoid that as a newbie. Just stabilize your ankle and don't look down
