I just realized I've only ever had rolling restoration projects. Now I have a cool name for my 'hobby'. Great video, Matt

Most of mine have been rolling restorations as well, so I know the struggle all too well. In fact now that I think about it, Misty is the first car where I’ve had the luxury of it not being a rolling restoration

I have always just thought of them as my commuters, though that is also why I had two (now three vehicles). Pro: You have to fix it and can't just put it off. Con: You need the car even if you can't fix it.

Great video! Reminds me of Ronald Finger's video style on his rebuilds. His videos are top notch. Keep it up!

do you have a drain hose that goes down the inside of the door/window panel. I have hardtop with moonroof & i have one thats for draining the sunroof (down into the sill 😬), you can see it from behind the footwell fusebox, mine was had a hole in it and they are known for blocking and leaking into footwell. (glad your door is just like mine, just gotta flick the door to shut it right 🙂). did put mine for mot, failed, mostly silly things like reg light, headlight adjustment, but drop links are busted and emissions are way too high!! its got a slight misfire too. I can't even do the old take it for a drive to clear it because I'm in city with lots of cops about (they seize cars theses days) & it hasn't had an mot done on the mainland since 2008 cos it was in ireland!! things disappear on me too & distractions are a beatch 🤣
@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness3 ай бұрын
It does indeed have a drain hole there, completely forgot about that. We even remade part of it in one of our very first videos 🤦♂️ I’ll definitely check that, thanks!

Great vid, another step up in production and editing. Love the new title card, narration etc. Is this the first time you fully scripted a video? Excellent job.
@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness3 ай бұрын
Thanks! I think the only other fully scripted video was the one about motorcycle security resistors. Back when Sophie was able to be in the videos more the unscripted style worked well, but I’m not so good at improvisation on my own 😅

Had a similar phantom leak, turned out the drain hose from the sunroof that goes to the vented section behind the quarter window had come off. Also replacing the butyl tape on the quarter windows couldn't hurt.

I usually try to find water leaks with a hose. I am glad it wasn't a coolant leak. Before I removed and resealed the window on my car I was getting a leak at the bottom and it would run down the firewall. It could have also been a situation of a well (or poorly) aimed pressurized jet, and if it went straight to the floor maybe you wouldn't have noticed. 🤷♀ Anyway, good luck! (as always)
@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness3 ай бұрын
Yeah, while it’s the most likely explanation, I’m not 100% convinced it was just the door not being shut properly, so I’m gonna keep an eye out and check the roof drains and bottom of the windscreen just in case

Speedo is probably the same issue as rev counter, kinda common these days. if it's gearbox end then hope the sensor died as the gear falling off is a pain
@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness3 ай бұрын
Spoiler warning: It’s the speed sensor in the gearbox, I’ve already removed it and discovered it’s missing its nylon gear 😕
