Back in the 1970s, if you told me the Stones would be touring in 2024 I would have told you not only would that NEVER happen, but half of them would be dead. Man, was I wrong! LONG LIVE THE STONES. They blow me away.

Actually more than half of them ARE dead just not Mick or Kieth. Bill Wyman is alive but quit almost 25 years ago. Brian Jones and Charlie Watts and fifth member Bobby Keys are dead. Just saying.

Last time i saw them live was in 1979 Oakland Colliseum.. I can’t believe these guys can physically do this performance! I am 75 and I know what it is like to be old. So it was pretty good to be there and experience it. So glad someone recorded the whole performance so I can see the part I missed by leaving early. Really wanted to miss the traffic after. Been quite a while since I first saw them in 1963 on Ed Sullivan Show.. My sophomore year in HS.

Finally after all these years the genius of playing a song like tumbling dice almost like clockwork around the fourth or fifth position of the show has been revealed to me. It has all of the classic country and rock style and even psychedelic elements of their Exile period. And it gets the back up musicians a chance to get warmed up. It also gives everybody in the audience chance to get up and go buy stuff and take a break and give their impression of the show so far, except for the guy that’s already drunk and clearly enjoying the song a bit too much. Could mean a Rough night buddy be careful. I think it’s the third most song played in their entire repertoire live maybe fourth I mean that’s pretty significant when you think about it I think it just happens to be the world’s most iconic strategically placed classic ever.

Are there any songs from the Hackney Diamonds CD? I would not be surprised there aren’t. Their old stuff from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s are so much better. Satisfaction, Get Off Of My Cloud, Midnight Rambler are good examples.
