I USED TO WORSHIP DONNY OSMOND UNTIL I HEARD THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Viajealduende5 жыл бұрын
Not wanting to disappoint anyone here but to all you Mick Taylor fans I do believe this is the version that Keith plays both guitars on. Mick Taylor later joined them in the studio and virtually did what Keith had already laid down. If this is NOT that version there is one out there that is exactly as I described. Keith was at the top of his playing in these days. If you listen, it's keith's phrasing and bite, very similar to Sympathy for the Devil and when you listen to Taylor it's very similar but has his fluidity and more ringing sustain.
@Viajealduende5 жыл бұрын
This is Keith Richards on lead two months before Mick Taylor was a Stone. The same upload by someone else on youtube confirmed that. Taylor did the final take we hear on the record version from Metamorphis. Its' sad that some Brian Jones fans and Mick Taylor fans seem to think Keith is a hack on guitar. I know, I know that Brian at first taught keith new things and playing together day and night while Jagger was studying at London School of Economics got Keith's playing up to par but that's how we get better. He played half if not most of the Stones lead guitar in the mid 60's and all by the late 60's. Taylor didn't really begin to contribute in the studio till Country Honk on LET IT BLEED and then Sticky Fingers. In interviews on Mick Taylor Keith always says that Taylor was brilliant melodic lead player, could do stuff that Keith couldn't do, but this isn't one of those cases or maybe it is the Stones used Taylor's lead on the final take. If you like this better and think it's Taylor, well you're mistaken and you actually prefer Keith's version more than Mick Taylor's.
@nedsheridan30742 жыл бұрын
Bang on‼️ Tired of ppl saying Keith is just a riff. Maybe so, but he can play. The problem is that ppl don't know what he's about.... really he and Ronnie get on great- why, ? Ronnie is a wizard and Keith knew this from the start. Now, they play harmoniously with no problems
I respectfully disagree. Every note of that song is pure, Mick Taylor. NOBODY plays like that, other than MT. I’ve been listening to this band, my entire life and I’m 60. My ears don’t lie.
@Viajealduende2 жыл бұрын
@@333Alastair It’s cause your listening to a Gibson and you’re confused. I play this solo, Sympathy for the Devil since I was 12 years old and many more. Stones solos while very tasty, they aren’t hard. All in blues pentatonic scales. And plus my ears are 6 years younger than yours. Your ears could be lying. For all his fame Keith Richards is a very underrated solo guitar player. At this stage Keith was at his peak, this take was done in April a month or two before Mick Taylor arrived. Go compare this to the final version and you’ll hear Mick Taylor’s almost identical solo. If however I am wrong I’ll be more than happy to buy you an Ice cream cone.

Best song to understand the feeling between Charlie and Keith, hear how the drum beat arrive just a little late, and that make you waiting for that, that's the Rolling Stones secret. GO CHARLIE
@axiomist10764 жыл бұрын
Thats because Charlie follows Keith. The usual way bands play is the drummer sets the pace, but Keith sets the pace in the Stones and Charlie follows him. Thus, the gap. Thats why the Stones are so easy to drum along with when youre just beating on a table, even if youre not a drummer. Theyre easy to follow for that reason. You picked that out well.

allen klein , their manager from 1967 to around 1970 owns the rights to ALL their songs recorded up to 1970 . He was stealing all their money , and the only way to get out of it was to walk away . So allen klein , and his company ABKO own ALL songs , even un-released tracks , which is what some of these songs are . So , even though ' Sticky Fingers " came out in 1971 , after they split with Klein , he owns " Brown Sugar " and a couple of songs off " Exile on main street " because they were written before 1970 . They do an early version of " brown sugar " on the "gimme shelter " movie , which was filmed in 1969 , so he owns that , too . I recently bought the 40th anniversary " get yer-ya-yas-out " edition , with a little book , and an -unreleased version of other songs , all put out by ABCO . " rolled gold " and " Made in the shade " this album , too all those compilation albums that have pre-1970 songs on em , are owned by ABCO . Thats why sometime you can click on an old stones video , and its been removed for copyright violation , by ABCO .
@MrKeithwelsh7 жыл бұрын
yes I had heard the similar story back then, mick n keef used to talk about how broke they were and having to move to the south of france to become tax exiles too, i knew abko owned all those released pre atlantic records the latest being let it bleed in 69'' but they had so many left over songs from those trident studio tapes that they could have released another album or 2 before they split with them, i hear they just wanted so bad to break away from klein,,,

This song wasn't even attempted until 1970 as evidenced by ABKCO and Rolling Stones Records settling on which songs ABKCO owns the publishing to. So for those of you claiming this is KR on guitar because it was recorded before MT joined, you're wrong and the documents in the great Nellcote book by Geir Hornes prove it. It was first attempted in Spring 1970 with the lineup: Jagger, Taylor, Richards, Wyman, Watts, and Stu on electric piano I didn't need the documentation to hear this is obviously Taylor on lead in Bluebreakers mode. Some people think Taylor's career began with the Rolling Stones lol
