This extended wheelbase version of the Ghost actually has 13cm more knee-room than the flagship Phantom, but costs a staggering £55,000 less. fifth gear should be more like fifth gear web tv, this guy is really good at reviewing, whilst he might not have the ability of chirs harris,tiff or jason he talks to you in a way that is easy to understand whilst being technical and not patronising

@rock3tcat an high spec 7 series ( 760 Li, same powerplant and also long wheelbase ) with some extras its nearly 180k euros. so i dont see that 150k u would save buying the bmw. just look the bmw car configurator to find out what im on about.

My presumption drawn from the current Maybach leads me to think that if Maybach were to be continued, it would be insuperable in ergonomics, æstheticism and performance. The Rolls Royce's hamartia in this regard, is the ungainly atavism it is ever subjected to undergo. (My ideal of automobile's lines I will call rakish angularity, for instance, the present S class embodies it.)

@AgraelDemonLord Maybach? Oh...you mean those ancient extended MB S-classes with their outdated electronics. Don't know if you've heard but Maybachs are selling so well that MB has decided to discontinue the brand by 2013.

Sand-casting at all now is a big deal, but this was a technique all automakers used until the early 1980s. Remember the lettering in Cursive? Emblems and HOs that looked hand made? Sand casting. It's sad that something so basic and elemental to a cars design is such a big deal now.

@StingRayINC I believe Maybachs future is still uncertain? I have heard no news about Maybach being shut down. Latest news I've heard is that the top-of-the-line Mercs will bear the Maybach name. Your prediction is one of the possibilities, but all option are still open.. Unless of course you have secret recources from within Mercedes? I would be seriously bummed if the Maybach name will be dropped, the brand has such potential which just isn't fully taken advantage of by Mercedes...

I dont know, to me this feels more like a younger persons rolls royce. Not a cheaper version of the phantom. Also, if you look at the specs of both the phantom and the ghost you'll clearly see that the ghost is more of a drivers car than the phantom.

The rest of us mortals just like a good car and looks great. However the 1% who buy the RR buy it partly for the status symbol. Comparing phantom and ghost is like a driver of a S Class showing off to a driver of an E Class. Both great cars, but S Class driver would think "Yeah, i got a better car than yours" kind of look.
