*Trilobyte* Pin striping by hand has been around since Christ was in short pants as it were. Fine examples of this art were, back in the day, applied to trucks/prime movers, panel vans and of course Rolls Royce etc. From the late 1960s through to the present, rolls of pin stripe tape have evolved for the masses to ah, try their "hand" at it...

He’s the only employee who does the pin striping. He’s the very last employee to perform work on a car in the factory. And if a current RR owner wants to add pinstripes then they’ll fly him to wherever in the world the customer’s RR is located so that he can do his work.

It's a tradition. All RRs with pinstriping have them applied that way. I'm surprised they don't make basic furniture. The wood would look so nice on a desk or cabinet.
