Opulence, Hand Crafted Beauty and no where near the $400,000 in today's money it would cost to buy one new. These cars were a bell weather of luxury to come. An Icon of the 70s and 80s how can you possibly live an enthusiast life without having owned one? Buy a good one, that's the key. Watch this video and hear Tim's thoughts.

One word, gorgeous. And you are right, I’m a little bit older and the Shadow is the one for me, I was dreaming about those as a kid. The shadow and the jaguar XJ are the most beautiful sedans of my generation . Thxs for the lovely video!

Nothing good to report. In a few videos time I am releasing a beginning to end of a drivetrain swap Audi RS2 into a Quantum Syncro . Start to finish in a year. Once the Lotus is finally underway again I think it will all make sense. If you go back and watch the first few videos in the series , I basically wanted to slap a timing belt on it and drive it with just the physical restoration, that was DEF the way things should have gone. I have 20,000 in parts sitting in my garage, some still in UK and some at the garage in the video just waiting. It will happen. Stay tuned

I love seeing the Arnage next to the Rolls.. it's a "911esque" evolution of style where nothing and everything changes
@TimsEnthusiastGarage
@TimsEnthusiastGarage 6 ай бұрын
Cars that get this long period of evolution and path toward perfection are almost evergreen. When you start with a great design (911, first gen Range Rover, Arrange) you get a better appreciation for just how good the core design is. This car is still peak "saloon" car for me . Cheers Josh

Very nice vehicle. Thank you for sharing! The Silver Shadow is definitely iconic. The brand lost its appeal to me when RR went with square headlights and has since 2000 on became less regal. Nothing says taste and elegance like those produced in the mid 60s through 70s.

My son lives in Beverly Hills and has a 1973 Caribbean Blue Silver Shadow which is his pride and joy. A beautiful piece of elegance, ageless and classic styling . He’s from Leyland in Lancashire . Not bad for a Northerner!

Tim, I've just started watching this clip and noticed an error, it's not a MK1, it's simply referred to as a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, introduce in late 1965 and marketed as a 1966 to 1977 model, after that (to around 1980) the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 11 came along. In 1965 Rolls Royce didn't envisage any upgrades on the Silver Shadow at that time so it wasn't marketed as a MK1. Other than that, you have an absolutely beautiful Rolls Royce which I hope gives you MANY years of complete motoring pleasure - and I DO LOVE the colour, is it Sand over Sable? MANY thanks for sharing and take care.

The version 1 and 2 reference applies to many makes and models. Many non rolls royce enthusiasts don’t even see a difference between this and the shadow 2 so I thought I would make it more obvious. It has ruffled a few RRC feathers. I appreciate your general graciousness. Cheers !

Beautiful. Love the two tone. Can’t beat the chrome bumpers! I had a 75 which in the UK still had them. The plastic bumpers were introduced there with the 77 Shadow II introduction. Nerd fact - I think the Mark I was simply known as the Silver Shadow. It's successor was the Silver Shadow II. At least in the UK. Thanks for posting.

You are correct on nomenclature! To many in my audience relaying series 1 or 2 / mark 1 or 2 helps to differentiate. I see the mk1 and mk2 nomenclature being used more recently at auctions and so forth . Appreciate you watching! I have particular affinity for the later Arnage and have a few videos featuring it. Would love it if you would watch and subscribe.

Exquisite piece! Is she a 1973 ? I notice there are no rear seat head-rests, which I believe appeared in 1974 - maybe I am wrong for America market. I am in Australia. Would I be correct in suggesting the colour is "Sand" ? I have a 1976 Shadow saloon in "Nutmeg" with beige/tan Everflex roof and beige leather interior. Ownership is a privilege and a great deal of upkeep, but comes with a great deal of pride as well. Its up to us to keep these magnificent Royces on the roads.

Isn't the clock in this beautiful car a VDO quartz one? The old clocks were Kienzle electric clocks. But still - even those quartz clocks run for 40-50 years.

@RRudolf88
@RRudolf88 6 ай бұрын
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage No they are not cheap and they are anything but badly made. This is an original clock commissioned for RR, but as far as I know, for the later Mk I models (from around 1975).

The VDO clock was introduced for the series 11 car, prior to that it was the Kienzle. They are obtainable at reasonable cost. Many owners replaced the electric clock with the quartz which are more reliable. Have seen a VDO used in a Cloud 111 and it didn't look wrong.

Oh boy. Horribly redone upholstery…. Headrests on backwards (what’s that all about)…. Arse end is way too high. I leave any reference to the childish gearknob to others. Awful example.
@TimsEnthusiastGarage
@TimsEnthusiastGarage Ай бұрын
The interior is lovely. Their prior owner had his own “desires”. The rests “fit is head” better this way. As to the Arse in end, it’sfine you arse dragger. The gear knob was truly dreadful. We replaced some of the aftermarket bits and it brought 28k at auction. Kindest regards despite your yobbish comment.
@roddsala4626
@roddsala4626 Ай бұрын
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage you are completely incorrect. High arse end is a problem with the rear height control system - totally wrong. As an “expert”, you may wish to then explain why the positive camber in the rear? The leather was redone very poorly. But clearly you believe you know more. The biggest issue with poor Rolls-Royce restoration is “know alls” who know little.

Tim, your otherwise fine video was marred by you calling the car something it's not! No such model as a Silver Shadow 1 or Mk1. It's either a Silver Shadow or Silver Shadow II. Why did you embellish the model name? If it's to distinguish the car from Shadow IIs, there are thousands more EARLIER CARS than Shadow IIs. You aren't narrowing-down the discussion to particular version. Please stop. It's monkey-see, monkey-do on the internet. Thanks. And what's up with that shift knob?
@TimsEnthusiastGarage
@TimsEnthusiastGarage 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. The shift knob was an odd custom made addition to the car that the prior owner concocted. It was changed to the proper pieces. As far as the. Nomenclature denoting mark one or two of a given vehicle is an easy way to delineate them. While there is no such thing as a mk1 Volkswagen Golf in terms of actual name it is fairly common to refer to everything from a simple VW to Aston Martin Vantages as mark 1 or 2 or even per or post facelift. It just helps keep them straight. Sorry you were so irritated by that. Cheers!
