White window blind with white cord and white cord lock on a white work table does not help clarity - put a dark cloth or sheet of cardboard under the cord locks while you're working on them. Also, a close-up (ok, closER-up) of the cord removal/insertion would be more helpful.

I have the opposite problem - I can get the blind up and locked, but then it is very hard to get it down again and requires many tries. In another online search I have read that taking the cord right up to the level of the cord lock and tugging horizontally away from the blind may sometimes get it free, and sometimes this has worked, but it is a struggle each time we need to lower the blind, and it seems to be getting worse. Once we have got the blind half down though it becomes much easier. Is all this a sign that the cord lock is faulty, or is there some other problem? The cord lock looks exactly like the one in this video, but it has four cords instead of two.

Well, I eventually replaced the cord lock with one I bought from a local eBay seller for AUD 21.90, and it completely fixed the problem. This video was absolutely vital to giving me confidence to do it. Many thanks! The fact that it had four cords instead of two didn't seem to make a difference. I just moved them from one cord lock to the other starting with the one that goes straight down and working my way to the one at the other end of the blind. I noticed that there were specks of black stuff, like soot, in the cord lock I replaced. They fell on the back of the blind as I opened the failed cord lock and I vacuumed them up carefully. I am wondering if they had something to do with the failure. Otherwise I couldn't see any obvious problems.

Hi Michael, It is the same process. The cord closest to the cord lock goes through the bottom, the rest go straight through.
