I am Hungarian, from Hajdú-Bihar county. These designs seem so familiar to me. I like them a lot. 🥰 Sure, the original pieces and people of Bihor deserve the credit. I think all of the big designer houses steal from cultures all around the world.
@AniaMaruno6 жыл бұрын
As a Romanian girl who incorporates traditional elements into her everyday looks I can t help but say that I would love to see our traditional wear becoming fashion. In comparison to other brands here,traditional pieces are quite a bit expensive but still of a very good quality , plus they are splendid. Dior copying and claiming this style is just distasteful, as the right thing to do would have been to credit and donate part of the income to the Bihor region with the purpose of forwarding and keeping the traditions alive. I am not mad, just disappointed.

HILARY ANN NICOLAS how is it like to be human? :)) There is nothing special about being Romanian
@AniaMaruno6 жыл бұрын
HILARY ANN NICOLAS don t jump to conclusions so quick. I know what you ment, and the truth is that at least in the southern region of the country where I live, there s nothing special happening. We live pretty westernised lives . The western pop culture influenced our costumes a lot and nowdays nobody is really following them anymore. Young people like me in most of the cases dream about moving to other countries so they live in ignorance of their own culture and rarely do you find comunities where traditions are still very much in use. We have way too many saints here tbh :)) and we celebrate them the same way other ortodox people do. I don t really know what else to say so if you have any other question please feel free to ask me. Excuse me if i made any spelling mistakes, I am in the car rn and the shitty roads here don t help . Regarding the "joke" from above, i have actually been practicing white magic for the past year so i have my reasons not to find it funny. Much love your ways

It's culture appropriation! Ok? Foreigners saw our clothes as banal and then Dior does something beautiful with them! Honestly if they had given us credit it would have been ok! I wouldn't be upset!
@Scarlitcorpse3 жыл бұрын
Idk I think they should at least pay royalties or donate to charities to help and support Romania since they feel so inspired to use their culture. It would only be fair . But the clothes are beautiful.

Good on them! The fashion industry has a habit of stealing peoples ideas and claiming them as their own. The amount of times they have just taken photos of people in the street and used someone else's own fashion ideas is sickening.

As a Romanian, many regions wear those coats for traditional purposes, and many brands who steal from cultures, like Romanian (and others) however, I can conform that this is also not just stealing, but is also cultural appropriation. Using MY culture and other peoples culture for fashion is NOT ok, never use cultures as FASHION. Not to mention, there are hardly any Romanian models when they out Romanian wear on them

And history repeats itself. Now we have Tory Burch: who decided to copy the Poveira Sweater and the Bordallo dishes from my country (Portugal), claiming that they are her Mexican-inspired creations. A real insult to a country's history and culture. People without creativity shouldn't even be in this type of industry!

I’m having a bit of a laugh here. Like some people have said, designers pick and choose from all cultures for inspiration. When they copy outright and culturally appropriate THATS when it’s downright offensive. For example, when one nameless designer sent models down the runway with feathered headdresses - er, no. Here in NZ, just TRY using any Maori moko, motif, picture or symbol without permission. You will be in court before you can blink. And rightly so. Good on the Romanians, shame on Dior, try coming up with something original for goodness sake. 30,000euros? More fool you.

being a romainian girl u get about 0 credit for everything u do and being fair this is the only thing i am proud of from that little country of mine this may be a small thing that happened through that we only stood up to it a little u will not understand what is through these tears i write this with. Furthermore romania is a country where people live on very low happiness with no future ahead of us . i am happy to be romanian but also not due to the conditions of how a average family stands there with money my family had to leave romania and their whole family behind for a future for me i miss that country as heck i am now in eangland and u will not belive the number of children i know that come from there and u would not even realise .The storys ive heard from people that are in the same kind of situation as me are overwhelming a story i heard of a man who had a whole university finished in a so called international university from romainia and then came here in eangland finding out his diploma was not reconised and he has to do his whole university again . This is what i am proud of the people who work hard from a poor country like this one and i give full credit to those who come from richer country and still manage the same thing but kidness is priceless a smile to a stranger can brighten up the darkest of their and your days

@neonlight29806 жыл бұрын
People that don't find anything wrong with this have a problem. And I will say by now that you disgust me. One is to straight out copy and another is to find inspiration, to take an element and improve it so that you create something new. Don't come at me with "that's what fashion brands do, they take inspiration"; just because most of them do, it doesn't mean that it is right to do so and it is also not right to take from a culture, doesn't matter wich one, and make profit out of it. I ask you now, where is the ORIGINALITY in it if they copy?! That's what they do nowadays it seems, they take something, maybe add one or two things of their own and call it "ORIGINAL CREATION". Ffs... "fashion brands"...
@tifantimea43746 жыл бұрын

Everything under the sun as been done those coats have been around for eons, it's not stealing it's called taking inspiration from. People are all just in it for the cash. Designers have been taking inspiration from other culture's since the beginning of time. Get over it.

@KellyeR19706 жыл бұрын
There's nothing new under the sun and unless, you have something legally trademarked then anyone can use any style they please, it's been going on since the beginning of time. It's just the way capitalism works. Just like Levi's jeans they came out wirh that certain style now everyone copies them as long as you don't put Levi's on it you can make any denim jeans you want. This is the way fashion works.
@vornik246 жыл бұрын
Yeah? But when you put a flower with the same shape at the same place as my people did for thousand of generation, only with better taste and quality it's coying my shirt. When you get to school and during a test you copy the colleague s answer is called cheating, it's exactly what Dior did in this case. Come On! Same style, same shape and lol exactly the same place my people use it? Ah and how much do they pay you to answer to comments on their behalf ?
