I still don't get why people think this is an ugly gun. The lines are really clean and attractive, at least to me. Looks a lot like a 1903.

I think it may be the grip/mag angle. The other design choices are beautiful in my opinion but the angle is def offputting.

For me originally its how fat the back of the grip is near the top. I think i also just thought they were ugly because they were “cheap pieces of junk”.

just bought one of these fantastic guns about 2 weeks ago. ammo is a little difficult to find, but it's definitely one of those you can pass down to the kids. great for target shooting too, with very light recoil and laser-straight accuracy!

the tokarev is one of favorite pistol designs, ive seen these ttc romanians at the local pawn shop anywhere from 90 to 200 bucks..

I also have a tokarev, and love it. It was about $250.00 but was in good condition, and shoots well. I have had no issues with my surplus ammo which was also very cheap, about $125.00 for 1200 rounds. Also during a shooting contest I was the only one in the group shooting holes in the steel plate targets. The others in the group were shooting, 1911, .45 and many other hand guns. I love my ugly tokarev.
@armeddefender13 жыл бұрын
@DeanSundheim Just make sure you have the scope set up for proper eye relief, and keep your eye away from the scope. Most scopes are set up where the shooter would have their eye right around 3 inches behind the scope. Make sure you seat the rifle securely in the shoulder.

Great cartridge and the tokarev platform is a very reliable one.Have owned and carried various ones(Soviet,Chinese,polish and serbian M57) for almost 22 years. They are called "Poor man's Desert Eagles" in my country

great for home defense..yes ... as long as you do not have any neighbors near by , as the Tok round is an extremely potent round and tends to go through everything in it's path

Bought the Romanian Tokarev online and liked it so much got a Chinese Tokarev at a gun show. These are great handguns for the money, easy to shoot, and built to military specs. The grip on the Chinese variant is shorter in length. It is very slim and easy to handle considering all steel construction and a pleasure to shoot.
@MrZacfisher10 жыл бұрын
i love the tokarev pistols, and to those who want a 9mm they have it now, the m70a, the m70a and m57 have slightly longer grips in you have a big hand itll probably be a better option, also holds 1 more round and nutnfancy did a review on it if you need to see one first. they are great reliable guns, easy to mainstain, the trigger mechanism on my slides out as a whole when the slide is removed and just slides back in place, it is so simple to completely break down, at least the one i have is, i figured all models were similiar. they are extremely reliable like most russian made weapons, and dont doubt the 7.62x25 either, it is a pretty powerful round thats accurate
@PhauxTheFox13 жыл бұрын
Personally I like how they look, a Romanian TTC was my first pistol and I'd personally like to own at least one of the various models. Biggest problems I have with mine is that the safety is jammed, its jammed on fire which makes it good for plinking but I wouldn't carry it, the other problem I have is the retaining pin for the firing pin falls out, for the longest time I had it duct taped until i found a way to fix it, but over all great gun.

@IndependentStorm The CZ52 is a great gun. I've owned one for a little while, and the CZ52 is a little beefier, but the TTC feels much better in hand, and has better ergos and small features (such as the western style mag release).

@millerusaf The hot loading's were designed for the CZ 52 pistol which could take it because of its unique ball roller design incorporated into the frame, similar in respect to that found on the MG42 machine gun of WWII vintage. Unless this gun has been designed to take the added stress of the "hot" or "Czech" ammo as its called I'd only use the ordinary stuff.
@kenzo571612 жыл бұрын
That is one mean little weapon. Ever since I got mine my 9mm Glock sits in the gun safe. This baby fits my hand like a glove and the round is "very" powerful!
@locknloadvideo13 жыл бұрын
@millerusaf I think it has more to do with the ammo loaded for subguns. The CZ52 lists at like 1650 if i remember right, and I used to have one, and you could really tell the difference between the ammos.

I like these "machines" I have two one box stock and one rather modded with compensator, polished internals, custom finished, and stippled grip. They function well and I like the tip to carry at half cock with a round chambered. This can allow for responsible carry w/o having the rear tang safety that can get easily snagged.

This gun does not barrow from John Browing's 1911, it is a cloe of his 1903 pistol. Nobody seems to get that.
@SaltyMaverick12 жыл бұрын
I was actually just thinking about that. And if not a whole, new, modern pistol, perhaps a conversion from 9mm to 7.62x25mm. I've heard that you can convert a Tokarev to 9mm Luger, so I'd imagine you could get a barrel chambered for 7.62x25mm made and installed in a standard 9mm Luger handgun. I'm not sure about magazines, but I'm guessing the 9mm extractor would work just fine with it.

The Tokarevs are a great value, and 7.62x25 is a potent cartridge-the only thing is, you basically have to carry the gun in condition 3, holsters aren't the easiest to find (as far as I'm aware), and quality defensive ammo is basically non-existent. Surplus ammo was pretty cheap there fore a while, but it seems to be getting more rare and expensive as of late. The Makarov is a little more practical as a carry pistol IMO. I love all Soviet weapons though-simple and effective.
@ryanehlis4268 жыл бұрын
7.62*25, there are hand load data up to 1900FPS and that puts it on par with full power .357 magnum, PPU has factory loadid ammo at 1700 FPS, This round leaves the 9mm and 45acp in the dust! I be ok taking a deer with this round out to 75 yards or so with the hornady XTP hollow point.

I love Tokarevs and the cal for it, I have a Romanian, but mine has issues, the pin that holds the firing pin in sometimes falls out(have it sorta fixed) and the safety broke and can no longer be used(wont budge) but its on fire so i don't mind. I haven't been able to +1 it, if i put a loaded mag in it with the slide shut and it wouldnt go in all the way, when i basically forced it it messed up the mag(fixable). and I dunno what you're talking about, I think they're wonderful looking! And my 9x18 P-64 is the perfect go-anywhere "pocket gun".

Well, I like it for the reasons you say you DON't like it. That 9mm is a pea shooter compared to the 7.62. It (7.62x25) was the favorite gun for the KGB and other secret service agents in Eastern Europe. It will penetrate level 3 body armor. My other hand gun is a .45 ACP shooting 230 grain hardball ammo. I have a Glock G-26 and when I got my TTC, I thought that it would be great to carry because it fit my hand so well and I liked the weight and how slim it is. It's thin and powerful, indeed, but I wouldn't call it a good CCW option because of the haphazard safety (basically have to carry either half-cocked or without one in the pipe) and because of the extremely limited JHP ammo options (Wolf Gold JHP expands poorly, Magsafe ammo is a joke, and custom handloads are iffy). You DO NOT want to use 7.62x25 FMJ for CC'ing - in Box O' Truth tests, it punched right through a Kevlar-lined helmet! Might be good against bears and wild boars, though. :-)
