You realize the trial went on for several weeks right? The jurors hurt a whole hell of a lot that isn't covered here. Did you see any parts of the trial or the closing statements? These reasonable doubts that you think are there I wonder why the defense attorneys didn't make them? Do you think that's incompetence and the defense attorneys were engaged in malpractice or what? I don't know if you've ever been on a jury but what goes on in jury deliberations is markedly different from what gets reported publicly. The system is not perfect but it's a hell of a lot more bias to let guilty people go free then guilty people to get convicted although all these true crime podcasts and TV shows makes everybody think that things work much different than they really do

My Grandparents split and divorced at one point. Not long later they remarried and stayed that way until their death. They often fought. My Dad wouldn't put them in the same nursing home because my granddad needed a higher level of care, and he didn't want calls from the nursing home that they were yelling at each other. I didn't find out until a few years ago that they had slept in different rooms. On my mom's side, I don't really know the whole story but my Aunt slept in an upstairs bedroom and spent most of her time in the living room, kitchen, when she wasn't at work. Her husband had a few rooms in the basement and except for meals, spent most of his time in the basement.

Imagine being unable to speak, and you managed to dial 911 in secret while being held captive, but no one bothers to show up at your home, and you end up being murdered. It appears that no investigation was done after the 911 call was received, and even a simple welfare check was bungled. I can only speculate as to how high the level of policing incompetence may be in this situation like this. Here's what I think, the incompetence was very high. As to Clay's innocence, I think he's guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, but a much more professional and conclusive investigation should have been performed.

This is a huge problem with police. They ignore or don’t follow up quickly on things like this. They’re working on other things like pulling over mostly law abiding citizens at random and doing fishing expeditions to invent charges. That means they’re safe, flexing their power, and working on “their terms”. That’s what police enjoy doing with their time

I always wonder about situations like this and if the victim knew how to tap out an SOS, would an emergency operator would even recognize it? -- edit: It would almost always be possible to tap the receiver _(3 quick, 3 slow, 3 quick)_ more quietly than it would to actually dial 911 ...I also wonder if repeating the SOS would be more or less likely to confuse the operator.

There's so many things wrong with this case. The ex certainly could have done it, but, it just as easily can be explained as another one of her 10 (known) partners realizing he wasn't the only one, or even just killing her for fun and staging it to point to the ex. I don't know enough of the details to judge - and neither did the court nor jury.
@deecarter147
@deecarter147 Ай бұрын
I wondered about the son too. And here's another alternate theory of the crime - she wasn't 'posed', that was just the position she was in when one of her 10 boyfriends jabbed her with the stun gun for fun and she died laughing (or not). The whole case against the ex-husband is circumstantial as all get out.

I looked into it, more than I should have, and it's not clear that the woman was having sex with many men, that's a claim made by Clay's defence. It looked to me, she was trying to find another partner, and to do that , she was dating several men to find the right one. Some of her dates said that they never had sex with her, it was just a date. The sex toys appear to have been planted by whoever tortured and murdered Chanin, they were used to humiliate the victem. Some time prior to the murder, a bag of dildos was left at Chanin's door, no proof who did it, but Chanin knew it was Clay (she should have invested in a secrity camera system). Apparently she feared Clay and told people close to her that she suspected he was breaking into her home and stealing things. Clay says that everyone who testified that he was feared by Chanin and stalking her are liars. There's two sides to a story, and Dr Grande left out a lot of damning details. Go to Clay's innoncence FB page, it's as if Chanin never even existed, it's 100% all about Clay. If my wife was brutally killed, even if I devorced and wrongfully convincted, my remaining years would be dedicated with finding the real killer. This man Clay, looks to me as a controlling manipulative narcisist, but that's just a theory ...

I can't imagine how her children felt and feel, having to hear of their mother's "behavior". How awful and scarring that must be. Also, the father had so many other ways to deal with this situation. He could have petitioned the court for a freeze on the child support if he was legit ill/injured/out of work. That would have kept the amount from climbing to an insane amount. He also could have gotten an attorney to challenge the massive amount. Thirdly, he could have easily had the mother declared unfit and he would most likely would have been awarded sole custody, if ha had wanted the kids. This is so tragic.

Getting officially married is mostly symbolic today. The courts tend to look at shared legal and financial responsibilities when a separation occurs. There was an interesting court case a while ago, even though the two partners lived apart in separate homes, they shared enough responsibilities over a period of time to be deemed in a common law relationship. If you have a child, married or not, common law or not, you will still be legally responsible for child support.
