Do you believe that the Social War made the fall of the Republic inevitable?

at the very least it helped a great deal to normalize open large scale violence as a political move

I'd like to think that the fall of the Republic was always something that could have been avoided until Augustus won at Actium. Augustus' personality and his longevity made the Empire possible, the more mercurial Mark Antony, if he had won, would have been more easily deposed by comparison, though whether that leads to the return of the Republic or further continues the chaos of the First Century BCE I don't know.

Is one man rule not simply an evolution of the self agrandizing customs of the Republic? A society dominated by elite clans who place their name above the vast majority, and who compete to gain even greater prestige/virtue/glory through public office. Is it any wonder that would devolve into personalism?

Marcus Livius Drusus is the greatest tragic figure of the Late Republic imo. He really fought the good fight in the most honest way possible, Cicero's model and the benefactor of the great Scaurus, but the paranoia of everyone else set Rome onto its imperial path. The Roman world from 91-67 was an absolute shitshow and worst of all it was entirely avoidable, but it also ensured that all of Italy would be the heartland of the Romans for the next 500 years.

It's so tiresome to see all attempts to improve the quality of life for the majority of people always be crushed by the establishment for the sake of the ruling class's enrichment.

"Kindness" without the ability of strength is submission. The Roman elite did not see the Italians serving Rome as good Romans, but submitted Italians. Only their strength changed that view.

On the note privacy in homes, I have always been amazed by Roman ‘apartment’ buildings. Look at one from the outside, like at Ostia, and the modern mind can sort of fill in the interior behind. You look at the windows and porticoes and think, yeah, there must have been apartments behind it in such and such a fashion… And while there certainly must have been buildings designed in a rather ‘modern’ way with apartments lining the facade (Roman history is long and diverse after all), the majority of Roman apartment complexes were designed along central corridors with open rooms in the center, strangely sometimes perpendicular to the central axis of the building, with the windows outside lining nothing but a common space. The actual rooms themselves very often had none. Only the lucky resident with some corner apartment could hope for any sense of privacy due to the fact that he may have had only one access point to the common space which was easily sealed off, but the rest of the complex was a maze of rooms and passageways that would perplex the modern thinker. One can’t help but wonder how the Romans did this financially. How was it determined what a person rented? Did the common space next to your room count as yours as well? Did the wealthy occupant pay for the maze of corridors that was his apartment but could also freely be used by his neighbours?

I do wonder what would have happened if a proto-social war occured concurrent with the second punic war.
@mattislindehag3065

After Cannae the conflict became a stalemate since Hannibal lacked the means to besige walled cities and Rome refused to be goaded in to more field battles against him. The tensions between Rome and the Italians that would eventually lead to the social war existed at the time and Hannibal was well aware of them. As such his strategy to win the war was to inflame these tensions and try to flip the Italian cities to his side. He tried to trigger the social war and had he succeded he would have won the second punic war, changing the course of North African and European history in ways that are impossible to know.
