Thanks MaCenna, for being real about being a home owner and that nothing lasts forever. I am a first time home owner and just had a pipe burst upstairs in our 1960's condo. The restoration/insurance process has been an eyeopening experience. And needless to say take care of your homes folks!

Agreed! And a good reminder that if you don't have an emergency house fund, get one going and concentrate on building it up right away! Being hit with an expensive repair usually happens at the worst of times, in my experience (I bought my first home at 26 and that was 40 yrs ago!). We found out pretty quickly that having a fund took the money panic out of the equation so we could concentrate on the best solution.

That’s so scary, especially when it affects your credit! An FYI for everyone: when you give your driver’s license to return items (when you don’t have a receipt, some stores require this), your driver’s license info gets stored in the store’s system and these stores get easily hacked. My mom had this happen at TJX or Ross or something and the hackers were easily able to get her SSN once they had her DL info and applied for a credit card with a huge limit and maxed it out. Same thing happened to me at Lowes but luckily it was just a debit, not a credit, so I was easily able to dispute the charges. TL;DR, be careful where you’re giving out your DL!

They were a bit of a splurge for me, but they were worth every penny! The quality of the materials - from vessels, to the wax and the wick, and the packaging - is top notch. Not only are they beautiful, but they smell so good!! (My husband was trying to take them for himself.) I started burning Ellori today... I mean, as soon as I opened the box, and Arlow is my favorite... But - we need to talk about Noël. Omg! It smells like Christmas. There is no other way to describe it. Yes! I've had a credit freeze for years. You have to unfreeze when you want to but it's worth it! Also register your property with the state so no one steals your houses too with a title switch!

What is involved with registering your house with the State? How is this different from having Title insurance?

Our state collector of revenue has a website where you register your email address to your property. If anyone files to transfer property fraudulently it notified you. ​@@duchessrva

Putting a credit freeze on your account with the Big Three is very wise- excellent advice! You can always lift it if you need to, and then refreeze. Excellent advice on home maintenance, too. Adulting is not for the faint of heart!

I have consistently been watching your content for the last few years after a college friend shared your channel with me. We send each other our thrift hauls and I am so glad she sent me your way. Since then I have really figured out my own style and have gotten to decorate two apartments on a budget. This last year I bought and renovated my own little house all before turning 25. Your content has really given me permission to get the things that I enjoy looking at and using and styling my home with them. Waiting is totally fine. When we painted our attic we had this little white door that leads just to the empty roof space so not used. I was thinking of painting it too to match the wall but decided to paint everything else first and then decide whether we paint the door as well and maybe colour drench the skirting. We painted the door in the end but left the skirting. Our ceiling had to stay white as the room has a dual purpose, a bright office during daytime and occasionally moody guest bedroom with deep burgundy chestnut walls. It gives us a nice balance :)

So glad you were able to get all the credit stuff fixed! I know its am awful feeling.. my FIL had his stolen a couple times and my husband has been dealing with his bank, someone keeps hitting his bank card and its happened numerous times! Its just A mess.. but at least the bank catches it and makes things right. Can't wait to see the bedroom!!

Make sure you/he is doing Police reports. So many people don't do police report because the bank refunds the money. It is so important! I posted info in her comments. BTW the police report and the ftc forms allows you to put a fraud alert on you credit report for I think up to 7yrs.

Glad you got your electric fixed. We had a fire at our last house. What a scary nightmare. Also I've had my identity stolen back in Late 80s . Person lived in another state. Took 7 yrs to prove I was me. It happens no matter how careful you are.

Hey MeCanna just to let you know that anytime your identity is stolen to open any credit cards, you are never ever responsible for a debt that was created. I'm a identity fraud investigator for a major bank for over 25 years. So just breathe it sucks I get it, but glad you got it taken care of.

Hey Robin. Quick q for you that maybe you’d have some insight on. My friend had a $13k line of credit taken out in his name by a guy who wanted to open a bar 4 years ago. My friend had no idea this person forged his signature until a year later. Any tips on getting the fraud removed from collections?

So if that’s what she meant, maybe I was. Her attention to detail on all of this is just top tear, which I was expecting having seen the series, but I wasn’t expecting the notecard paper to be so….elegant I guess is the best word for it.

I received one of my 2 candles today (Noel) and lit it immediately. The wick was already at the perfect height for lighting and the flame is so smooth (if that’s a thing). There’s no flickering or waving back and forth, just a soft flame throwing the most magical Christmas scent through our home🎄❤️ I’m looking forward to my second delivery tomorrow. BTW….. your Mama’s artwork within the packaging is magnificent. I wish there was a way for me to frame it lol Thank you for taking such care while producing and perfecting what I would consider a sub-standard product that most of us overpay for already.

Our home when we bought it (it’s a 1962 build) had a fuse panel instead of breaker so we added that to our contingency before closing but the electrician also overloaded a breaker and first month in, a whole wall would go out when we’d use the microwave 😂 that was an easy enough fix thank goodness but it really is so ongoing owning a home!

Sorry to hear about your credit issues, sounds very frustrating and scary. 15 years ago I bought a house that was built in 1962. I was lucky that the previous homeowners had already renovated a lot of it but now I am having problems with the foundation. It has been settling and there is a large crack in the tiled floor of the master bathroom, running down the wall from the window in the mb and across the ceiling of the mb. Things that I never expected to happen but a part of being a homeowner,, especially of an older home. Do love the house though.

Identity theft is awful!!! a couple of years ago my husband had his identity stolen. The person bought a brand new truck in his name and insurance for it!!!!!!! (Along with other things.) It was an absolute nightmare. I am glad that you found out in time.

Oh this happened to me while I was at a family wedding in Savanah, Georgia. I get back home to Michigan and had all these credit cards in my mailbox. I checked my credit and yep...somebody went all over my home town applying for cards in my name. They even got one of the cards out of my mailbox 😮 so they came to my house! Fortunately I didn't have to pay for anything but all of those hits on my score took two years to go away. It does feel so violating.

It has happened to me multiple times, but I caught it and took care of it. And yes you have to freeze your credit. I freeze my credit and my credit cards that I’m not using and you can freeze your bank account your debit cards and just unfreeze them when you go to the store to use them you can do it right on your phone
