I do like the ship..and mix of tech like you said.. just , hmm many ships Klingons and Romulans traded but in the shows they hate each other.. so wonder how it happened lol jus saying.. Love the Miranda.. and think bigger than the Connie with all those windows and launch bays.. nice.. There is a TOS version of the Miranda in a comic. What I find interesting is that the Romulan plasma weapon is capable of destroying the hardest material that the Federation can produce yet we rarely hear or read about that material being used in starship construction.

Yes, I've read that Klingons and Romulans exchanged technology. Romulans wanted weapons and Klingons wanted cloaking technology. That's (apparently) why original series Warbirds looked alike. The Romulans were copying the Klingons. Enterprise (the series) showed Romulan ships as they originally looked. In TNG, they greatly updated their ships in their own style.

It wasn't that it was tough... it was an efficient design, that was versatile, compact and easy to construct. The oberth was around for 100 years, there is nothing tough about an oberth.

At least that is what i think the oberth was intended as. To bad about the crews. must have been the worst graduates from the academy, i guess that is starfleets way of getting rid of bad officers.

@@poil8351 The Oberth couldn't observe a fart without being disabled or turned into space shart. Should have kept Connies alive for those roles. At lease they coulld defend themselves. The Miranda just met all the compromises to keep its spot as a versatile support vessel.

In SFB lore, the fact that the Miranda has 'Gatling' Phasers' defeats most any (including an 'Overloaded, "S" type Torp) Romulan Plasma Torp, by VIRTUE of Phasers being able to 'punch holes' in their warheads as they Approach (btw, for Star-wars fanboyz, they Approach at FTL speeds, FAR beyond Your "turbo-lasers" ever), and thusly, keeping the Plasma Torpedoes at-bay with Minimal Shield penetration.
