an outdoor habitat is in fact my plan, just have not built it; it will be built onto the side of my living/bedroom, sort of a fenced in portch you could say; he will really appreciate the real dirt to dig in!

@kophy2 It's not the urine that reminds people of a skunklike odor... that is the musk produced by the violet gland on their tail... the same gland that domestic dogs and cats also have... a fox's gland just produces more potent scent marking substance. It's not an unpleasant smell, as much as it is a strong earthy or wild smell xD

yay!! Ron and I are looking forward to seeing videos of yours!!!! No, Ron does not bring me the ball, but I chase after him, and when I get to him, he drops it, and then I throw it again! Actually, he plays much more energetically with his rubber Kong ball all by himself!! He was doing the same thing in my most viewed vid, him playing with a mini orange tennis ball.

still many many stages to go on the outdoor project... and hundreds more dollars to spend, so still a couple months away 'til Ron gets his new 'house' (the outdoor pen is about the same square footage as my entire house!!)

@RichieSam5 They are 'bad' pets, in that they will tear you house apart! But they make WONDERFUL pets, if you can cope with their digging/biting/chewing.. an outdoor pen is a must. You will not find an animal more happy to see you when you come home!!

Yess Dig n chew is his life! I started out knowing that, but wanted to give him a chance as an indoor pet, but having experienced his foxy destrction ;) I plan to have hin outdoor only, inside an enclosure like SpiritWhiteFox2 has on youtube. Problem is I gotta build it, and I have many projects on waiting lists around the house (I just reshingled my roof myself...)

@FireStarDoink correct. some states allow them, like my state of Arkansas. other states require a permit, like PN and Ohio have, and some ban pet foxes like AZ and CA.

@nejixdragon USA pet foxes from a breeder cost around 500 dollars, but keep in mind their tameness depends largely on how closely you bond with the young fox... US pet foxes are much more wild than the Russian foxes product of the experiment everyone's heard about.

@AmongstTheBracken You are mistaken.. the UK allows pet foxes, no permit needed (though beware of local city or such laws that can ban exotic pets). TheFlashmans here on youtube have several Corsac foxes, some Fennec foxes, and an arctic, even had a silver fox, near London, all legal! /user/TheFlashmans

I would love to have either a Red Fox or a Silver Fox. They love to dig and chew. Look at the bottom of the walls around that room. Like any animal they can be destructive as hell. But still a wonderful pet also. Kudos. I will stick to owning my bobcat.

@mastachief2 oh no, lol! Foxes are much smaller and weaker than wolves... even smaller and weaker than most dogs too. Foxes would be in the 'featherweight' category :-p but they can and will bite of course, like any animal can, when threatened or scared... Foxes particularly love to playbite, which can get too rough and break skin, if you're not careful.
