Agree. Equally amazing, different styles but both operating on a higher plane to everyone else, even Vai and Satriani. For all the trickery and complexity, they never seem to lose sight of the melodic sensibility though, which I find other elite players sometimes struggle to retain. For me, without melody you can lose something, which is why Uli Jon Roth is probably my favourite player.
