They came fairly close to something with the questioning about the Holy Spirit. The actual reason for the "Holy Spirit" is that it is what the church uses to claim its authority. In Acts, Peter tells Ananias that he had lied not to man but to God in lying to the apostles about giving them the entire price for which they had sold their property. Rabbinic Judaism accomplishes the same thing by claiming God no longer is to be heeded, because the rabbonim have the authority to interpret the Torah which was given by God to man by way of Moses, was a covenant, etc. so basically they're telling God no backsies for the past two-thousand years.

Not to mention man in ancient times lived a much simpler existence with many less distractions. I'm a firm believer that you need to be able to quiet your mind to be able to experience the deeper sensations of a spiritual existence. Able to divorce yourself from your ego as much as you can. And I say sensations because these things are completely subjective, the only way they could even be remotely quantified would be by the words and actions of the person that had them. This leaves alot of room for skeptics to play with. There are many, many charlatans out there after all. Somehow I don't believe that suicide bombers, hypocritical televangelists, or people hawking miracle water on BET at 4 in the morning are very spiritual people. I think these type of people are actually more destructive to the open-mindedness required than ardent outspoken atheists. Say religion is a hammer. One person builds a beautiful house with it, and five more use it to cave in the skull of their neighbors. It's easy to dismiss it because it's been so grossly misrepresented by the majority of the practitioners for so long.

This, of course, constitutes rejection of nature, which dictates to all creatures what they are to do, including what to eat, what environment to live in, etc., in order that they fulfill their natural role and exist in true health and contentment, and the rejection thereof is responsible for all unnecessary difficulties we have faced as a species. The drive toward ever greater "progress" is identified with the "sons of Cain", which subgroup of humanity includes all those who shun genuine worship of a transcendent God in favor of making themselves into a synthetic God or gods. They have willed for many centuries to reach the point at which they could "conquer" and control the forces of nature. But don't be tripped up by the terminology, as contrary to the claims of a clear and well-established divide between the sons of Cain or of Samael, Sama'l meaning in Hebrew "to take the left hand path", and the churchmen, the priesthoods of nearly all established religions have nearly always, if not from their very inception, been working in collusion with and have actually been members of the very same secret societies of the sons of Cain which they profess to oppose. I mean what you said isn't true, and doesn't make sense. I'm not a Christian, in fact I strongly dislike the religion, but alot of zealots are converts. It's the people born into it who treat it like parental authority: "don't question it or you'll get smacked." This means they don't usually know what they're talking about. Earl on the other hand was born into it, and was a kid who snickered whenever the word "ass" was said in reference to the beast of burden, and all the theology flew over his head.

As for the book of Ecclesiastes, what Christians don't realize, or think is superseded by things like one of the New Testament epistles saying "all scripture is God-breathed" is the fact that the Jews categorized the books according to priority and authority thousands of years ago, and even the "Jesus" of the New Testament spoke about that distinction between the law, the prophets and the Psalms. The latter category is of not only Psalms but writings such as the book of Ecclesiastes, which were included basically because they contained some inspirational content and mentions of God. They were not regarded as having been inspired by God as Christians think, but were admittedly fallible words of men.

I'm a proud Ron and Fez fan but I am also proud to say that I'm a Christian. The one thing that Ronnie doesn't understand as well as a bunch of Christians on this planet is that it literally says in the beginning of Revelation that what is said is not to be taken literally but just as a figure of speech. Nobody really knows what will happen when Jesus comes back. I only pray that I have already gone to meet my maker by then. Unlike that one caller who was offended for stupid reason over Earl's working there I actually laugh when Ron makes jokes about Christianity because allot of it is true! When he makes fun of Jesus I just kinda smile and shake my head but that's what a real loving Christian is supposed to do. If you were the majority of Christians I think we’d be in a better place. I used to be a Baptist (or still am if you believe once Baptized always saved) and one of the reasons I stopped is seeing people who claim to be “Christians” acting in ways they wouldn’t if they took the Bible seriously. Doesn’t make it untrue, but I just couldn’t reconcile the two. But the divide between literal and metaphorical is one of the biggest contentions of modern religious studies.
