I remember when this happened. Even though Lyle would fight after this, by this time he was ringworm, out of shape, and had been injured in training. He was fighting for money alone at this point.

Howard Cosell is very arrogant. These were good fighters and all he did was criticize them the whole fight. I thought Ledoux had a decent defense most of the fight. He made Lyle miss a lot and Cosell gave him zero credit. Cosell thinks that if you dont fight the same way as Ali or Holmes then you have no skill.

Anders2989 your 100% right, Cooney never had a chance to reach his peak, and his left hook was one of the most devastating punches in the history of boxing. Don King locked him out of the picture because Cooney's team Rappaport & Jones refused to let King get their fighter under contract. Cooney in 80-81 would have been a stiff challenge for anyone, Lyle nuthuggers like combatesbox alway bring up he was 220 ibs of pure muscle, that don't mean shit, Cooney knocks prime Lyle out too, in 4-5 rds.
