Great video, Hunter! The setup for the outside summer garage looks fantastic, especially with those 275-gallon totes! I can’t wait to see the jewel cichlids thrive in their new environment!

I'd would have never had thought of using a pond as my sump unless id watched this video. 😁
@BigDadventures2 жыл бұрын
the pond isn't really a sump or filter. its just to catch all the waste water and pull out nutrients before the water is absorbed back into the earth and goes back into the aquifers we pull the clean water from. We do not use the pond for raising fish or filtering. its merely for viewing enjoyment and to contain our water and fish that exit the fish house.

@@BigDadventures yeah after i thought about it for a minute I realized that was what it was for. However..it's not a bad idea though

This is such a great idea. Instead of having them in ponds , you control the biological environment much better. Nice to see a new video. Be careful with leaving the tops open. Raccoons will eat your fish so will birds of prey. 😘🍀

@BigDadventures3 ай бұрын
it does not get as bad as you would think due to 100-200% new water going thru each tank daily..

Yes, we already added one. If you look at the thumbnail of the video you can see the black cloth. It drapes over each vat.

So u just dont breed in winter?
@ronscichlids10 ай бұрын
we breed year round in our main facilities... this is just a SUMMER only growout.. late spring we move some juvies out here and let the natural sun and warmth grow them for us.. Space is always limited when you breed as many species as wee do so this helps during that time.
@ChristianJamesPhoto2 жыл бұрын
do you precycle the filters?
@ronscichlids2 жыл бұрын
Some of them yes. The ones for the outside growout are uncycled. We don't have to worry about ammonia spikes in them because those vats are getting close to 100% water changes everyday from a continual drip system.

Bro how much fish can i put in these tanks to grow out
@ronscichlids Жыл бұрын
Depends on what size they are and how big you want to get them. The less crowded they are, the faster they will grow. For a 275g tote, I usually put around 100-200 fish 1.5-2.5" and it takes a few months before they are 3-4" depending on water temp and how much I feed.
