so many questions. i had and loved my superformance cobra. ford racing 460 crate motor with weber carbs. did not have an oil starvation light like he did, but shocked he cooked the motor. he was NOT pushing it hard, at all. that was a brisk charity drive style ride. sorry for your loss, but glad u use it in good spirit! bon chance.

The Windsor and FE are completely different beasts. Also, if it's being raced, it has baffles, unless the engine builder is incompetent.

disagree. graduations on the oil pressure gauge appeared to be 0-20-40-60-80-100, whatever they were the needle on the gauge was pegged for the entire race just above the 40 mark. i kept my eyes glued to to oil pressure gauge thru the whole thing, it did not appear to move regardless of engine rpm, i thought it must be stuck or broken. although you didn't mention it, forget the tack light, you could tell from the motors sound it was never stressed. however the owner says it's a stroked small block 427 and revved to often beyond what was good for it. so, just wore out?

@edhaley4168 lumpy cam on idle for sure but motor sounded strong when it was into its stride , I still think the rear end lifted and with the throttle already down it went into the redline and detonated - always a danger with highly tuned motors and stiff suspension/ road bumps . - my take on it . Would be nice to see what the damage was on a strip down follow up maybe.

More than likely a oil starvation problem not having a oil pan that works with it with baffles and most of all you should have a it's like a oil bladder, works great for when you first start the engine up get prime to engine before it starts. I forgot the technical name for it!
@puttervids472
@puttervids472 11 күн бұрын
Definitely oil starvation. If they keep oiling those engines just don’t break. My guess is it’s a small pan , and the repeated rpm sucked all oil up. Won’t drain back fast enough under cornering to get back to the sump. If it’s dry sump - probably not running enough oil. Oil light was on most of the run. Oil gauge on right was jumping. And laid down 10psi or more right before it let go.

351 windsor stroked in 427 with gated sump but the problem is the set up of the shift light not matching with the rpm counter and don't matching with real rpm too ... and the rev limiter has never worked too so since 5 years we think we pull revs at 5500-6000 rpm but in reality rpm are higher maybe 6500-7000 rpm and it's too much for stroker engine

I never understood the gloves especially when you see people sim racing with them. Does that serve any purpose besides geting to pretend youre mario andretti?

Driving gloves made sense in the days when cars featuring wooden steering wheels (like the Cobra in this video). They prevent the wheel from slipping should your hands get sweaty. Leather-wrapped steering wheels solved this problem.

Gloves are fire proof. Worst comes to worst, your hands get you out of the car. Can't speak to sim racers though. I was struck by the passenger not wearing any safety gear other than a helmet. Hardly wise considering how quickly things can go wrong on a hill climb.

@@rickprice6312 No roll bar on the passenger side either...helmets don't help much when you're holding up the weight of an automobile with your head after a rollover.

Why no stutter box? You can’t run out of oil or overrev a big block. They don’t like it! Spring for a modern ignition box and save your fifty plus year old motor.
