Well, it's just a bunch of private jokes that only persona players can understand, for example, the final boss being Hitler is a reference to Persona 2 IS where the final boss is (kinda) Hitler. The beginning is also another private joke, the one we saw shooting himself at the beginning is the early design of the P3 MC and the joke being that in P3, the characters have to shoot themselves in the head with a faje gun to summon their personas. You can basically ignore Persona 1 and 2 since they're not that good. The Persona universe is kind of like FF, you don't have to have played any other persona games to play the other one, but there's some reference that you won't get. For example, in Persona 4 you can meet with a persona 3 side character, since it all happens in the same universe. Watch a Persona 3 FES LP and a Persona 4 golden LP
